Like us on Facebook(@fraserhealthcareers), follow us on Twitter & Instagram(@FHCareer), or connect with us on LinkedIn (fraserhealthcareers) for first-hand employee insights!Detailed Overview: Under the direction of the Team Coordinator, the Mental Health Clinician/Behavioural Consultant provides case management, applied behavioural analysis/behavioural intervention, individual/group counselling services and consultation to clients with concurrent developmental disability / psychiatric disorders, working within a community interdisciplinary mental health team and primarily on a community outreach basis. Duties also include the provision of educational in-services to community care networks. Participates in evaluation of process and outcomes to ensure continuing quality of service. Responsibilities:

  • Conducts functional assessments, gathers relevant psychosocial history, conducts in vivo behavioural observation, and utilizes ABC charting and/or other appropriate behavioural data gathering techniques and tests. Analyzes and synthesizes data gathered and develops behavioural intervention plans. Provides training regarding behavioural plans and interventions to family-members and caregivers where appropriate.
  • Develops and delivers time-limited, evidence-based individual and group counselling using techniques appropriate for individuals living with developmental disability/psychiatric disorders
  • Collaborates with other team members in preparing for, participating in and contributing to, initial psychiatric assessment; assessing clients progress; follows up on the implementation and re-evaluation of behavioural strategies with interdisciplinary team members, as well as members of the clients support network.
  • Performs case reviews and evaluation of processes; prepares reports of relevant observations and evaluation of care to ensure continuity of quality service, communication and client documentation.
  • Attends and participates in meetings directly concerning clients, including assessments, case reviews, progress meetings, internal/external case conferences.
  • Coordinates assessment, intervention & follow-up for a caseload of clients living with concurrent psychiatric disorder & developmental disability.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to assist in program development, which includes the necessary preparation, prioritizing, scheduling and arranging for space and other resources.
  • Supports family members and care providers through the provision of up-to-date clinical information; assists clients and caregivers by recommending utilization of existing community resources.
  • Maintains clients files according to established standards, procedures and protocols.
  • Performs general public relations duties such as community education regarding client population.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications: Education and ExperienceMasters Degree in Clinical Counselling/Psychology, Social Work, or other relevant health related discipline.Two (2) years recent experience providing direct behavioural therapy and counselling support to children or adults with mental illness or developmental disability, inclusive of one (1) year of independent (post-Masters) practice, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Eligible for registration with relevant professional association.Valid Class V B.C. Drivers Licence and possession of a personal vehicle.Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated skills in behavioural assessment and in developing, implementing and evaluating behavioural treatment programs.
  • Demonstrated skills related to provision of individual and group therapy/counselling.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to the interdisciplinary team in care planning in complex client situations.
