Job Description

FITNESS INSTRUCTOR 2Closing Date: OPEN UNTIL FILLEDDepartment: Community ServicesPosition Type: Temporary Part TimeFile Number: SV24-57Hours: varied hours; Days, evenings, and weekends.Union: Non-UnionRate of Pay: 25.50PURPOSE AND SCOPE:As a member of the Community Services Department, this position prepares lesson plans, provides quality instruction, evaluation and completes administrative tasks for their assigned programs/classes.DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Represent the City of Belleville in a professional manner with appropriate actions and conduct by following all of the Staff Policies and Procedures set out by the Department.
  • Responsible for the safety and supervision of the participants by following all rules and regulations set out by the Department and/or outside organizations.
  • Must be knowledgeable of City Programs and have strong public relation skills.
  • Responsible for providing instruction and leadership for your designated program.
  • Responsible for on-going evaluations and feedback of the programs to the Recreation Programmer.
  • Responsible for the completion of attendance and any required paperwork to effectively administrate this program as per the Department Procedures.
  • Assume the responsibility for assessing and responding in an emergency situation and completing the necessary reports.
  • Provide the participants excellent customer service including management of conflict through effective problem solving and communication skills.
  • Ensure all program areas are properly supplied with equipment, paperwork, and any other supplies that may be required for programs.
  • This position is responsible for keeping any required certifications current.
  • Attend all training and staff meetings as scheduled.
Note: Above duties are representative of a typical position and are not to be construed as all-inclusive.EDUCATION/SPECIALIZED TRAINING: Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • High school, college, or university graduate.
  • Current Standard First Aid and C.P.R. certification.
  • Certified by a recognized and approved Agency (Dependent on the discipline you are teaching in - Group Fitness, TRX, Kettlebell, etc.).
Asset Qualifications:
  • High Five - Principles of Healthy Older Adult certification.
  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline
WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum Required Experience:
  • Excellent customer service skills and problem-solving skills.
Asset (preferred) Experience:
  • Previous Instructing experience in the assigned discipline.
