SENIOR SUMMER CAMP LEADERFile Number: SV24-20Position Type: Temporary Full-TimeNumber of Positions: Five (5)Hourly Rate: $18.10 per hour Hours of Work: 41 hours per week, Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Department: Community Services Employee Group: Administrative Group Work Location: Quinte Sports and Wellness CentreApproximate Contract Length: June 21, 2024 – August 30, 2024Closing Date: February 29, 2024, at 4:30 PM PURPOSE AND SCOPEAs a member of the Community Services Department, these positions will provide safe supervision and leadership for children and youth with games and activities, allowing the participants to express themselves and socialize in a creative, fun-filled atmosphere.Senior Leaders will plan and implement summer programs for various camps responsible for monitoring Leaders-In-Training and assisting with administration of the camp.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensuring the safety and supervision of the participants and following all rules and regulations set out by the Department and/or outside organizations.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of the daily activities, to ensure a successful program.
  • Responsible for the supervision and evaluation of the Leaders-In-Training participants (L.I.T. #39;s).
  • Assist with the proper handling and care of the equipment, supplies and facilities utilized, and reporting damages or losses to the Camp Coordinator
  • Assist with the daily cleanliness of the facility.
  • Ensures the completion and submission of the required administrative forms (ie. accident forms, supply
  • requests, special event forms, etc.)
  • Staff will be required to participate in daily activities with the campers (including swimming).
  • Evaluate the overall success of the program, submit reports and feedback to the Summer Camp Coordinator
  • Attend all Summer Staff Training sessions and scheduled staff meetings.

  • College or University student or graduate (studying in a child related field is an asset).
  • Two (2) years previous experience as a camp leader and/or a children #39;s recreation leader in a supervisory position required.
  • Hold a valid Standard First Aid and C.P.R. certification.
  • Hold the High Five - Principles of Healthy Child Development certification.
