As an IPS Payroll & Benefits Specialist, the successful individual will be responsible for processing employee pay information and supporting benefits, in compliance with legislative requirements across multiple provinces. Additionally, the Payroll & Benefits Specialist will continuously apply Servant Leadership principles to build trust and open communication as she/he supports IPS Service Centers and Corporate in all Payroll, and Benefits related tasks. Bilingual in French & English and prior ADP experience preferred. - This is an on-site position -

  • Prepare and process bi-weekly salary and hourly payroll and generate reports
  • Responsible for verifying time sheet entries, vacation and sick time, and adjusting entries as needed
  • Act as the first point of contact for all employee payroll and benefit related requests
  • Enter new hire information into the HRIS and benefits carrier systems
  • Coordinate employee life cycle changes in conjunction with HR Business Partners and Recruitment
  • Present the payroll and benefits onboarding session, and collect and verify enrollment forms
  • Ensure regulatory compliance of Payroll, Benefits and other employment related areas of business
  • Process updates for employees including salary changes, TD1s, T2200s, and annual benefit enrolment changes
  • Maintain and update payroll procedure documents
  • Stay up to date with compliance and legislation changes to ensure compliance
  • Review and reconcile monthly benefit invoices to ensure on-time payments
  • Statutory remittances, balancing and processing T4s, workers’ compensation reporting, and other provincial and territorial tax levy accounts
Qualifications and Competencies:
  • 2-5 years of experience in a Payroll and Benefits role required
  • Fluently bilingual in French & English preferred
  • Meticulous attention to detail required
  • Must be able to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner
  • Expert knowledge of relevant provincial and territorial legislation, tax levies, and workers’ compensation for all jurisdictions across Canada
  • Ability to follow legislated payroll guidelines and meet deadlines as required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, etc.)
  • Highly organized with the ability to multi-task
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to build relationships at all levels within the organization
