Visit us today and check out www.novascotia.com to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Zone Manager, Public Engagement and CHB Support, the Community Health Board Coordinator provides support to community health boards (CHBs) to assist in achieving the mandate of CHBs as outlined in the associated legislation and regulations. The Community Health Board Coordinator facilitates organizational development including assisting with Board recruitment, volunteer support, training, policy development and other administrative functions. The Community Health Board Coordinator is a contributing member of the Public Engagement and CHB Support team by facilitating citizen engagement in community health planning and applying the principles of community development and health promotion to address community health promoting initiatives consistent with CHB community health plans.Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in health education/ promotion, community development, adult education, or a combination of relevant education and work experience in community health or community development
  • Cultural competency training considered an asset
  • Completion of the Foundations of Public Participation training program (International Association for Public Participation) is considered an asset
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with community based groups or projects
  • Working knowledge and demonstrated application of the principles of health promotion, the prevention continuum and population health assessment
  • Working knowledge of program planning and evaluation methods (including logic models)
  • Experience in community health planning, community development and community or public engagement
  • Experience in volunteer board development, working with diverse groups and teams in a community setting
  • Demonstrated skills in report writing and policy development
  • Demonstrated skills in facilitation and knowledge of the principles of adult education
  • Excellent listening and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write and speak English fluently; the ability to communicate verbally in French is an asset
  • Demonstrated proficiency with word processing, electronic communication, presentation software, web-based research etc.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work constructively as part of a larger team
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Access to reliable transportation
