GVM is a non-profit long term care home with 5 nursing home units, 142 residents, and over 200 staff. One of the units is a secure unit for people with dementia and wandering behavior. We also have an attached assisted living complex (30 units), and an enriched housing complex (40 units). GVM staffing includes Nursing (Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Continuing Care Assistants), Dietary / Food Services, Environmental Services (Laundry, Housekeeping, Maintenance), Chaplaincy, Recreation, OT/PT/PTA and Administrative Support.We are a smoke-free, scent-reduced environment and we actively promote a safe and respectful workplace.ResponsibilitiesThe CCA position is responsible for providing day to day personal care to the residents under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager/Shift Supervisor/Team leader. Responsibilities may include total resident care, bathing, dressing, mobilizing etc., communication/documentation, assessment, work within a multi-disciplinary team environment, and provide outreach services to Orchard View / Fundy Villa and completion of other related duties as assigned.Responsibilities:Provides total personal care to the resident including physical, emotional & spiritualAssesses resident's clothing needs & passes information through Nurse Manager to family/ responsible personInsures that the resident's room is a safe environmentAssesses resident's skin integrity, changes in behavior and changes in resident's regular routine and reports to team leader and/or supervisor.Close communication with the Nurse Manager, Shift Supervisor, LPN Supervisor &/or Team Leader is essentialMaintains good working relationships & open communication with staff of nursing and other departments, residents, families & the general publicAttends & participates in nursing conference on each shift, monthly unit meetings & multi-team meetings as requiredDocuments pertinent information in appropriate filesAssists in updating care plansAttends residents care conferencesObserves any changes in the resident's condition, immediately reports them to the nurse in charge on the unit & documents in the resident's chartIs available to work all shifts on all units as assignedHelps in the orientation of new staffParticipates in team conferences & contributes to planning of resident care & work routines on the unitShows respect for all staff in all departmentsActs as a mentor to CCA students when necessaryHelps to insure that the unit on which they are working is safe and the area is kept in good repair; also that the equipment they are using is safe and maintained in good working order. Notifies maintenance of any needed repairs.QualificationsCredentials:A graduate of a provincially recognized Continuing Care Assistant course (or equivalent)Qualifications:
