Job Description

Schools Plus Facilitator (WK)Schools Plus FacilitatorVacant position effective immediatelyBerwick and District SchoolServing the West Kings family of schoolsSalary commensurate with Job Band 8 ($70, 816.82)Closing date for applications: June 14, 2022Terms and conditions of employment, including wages, are in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Employment for Non-Union Employees (Managerial).Reporting to the Supervisor of School Support Services, the Schools Plus Facilitator provides preventative, proactive programming as well as interventions for students and families.The Schools Plus Facilitator will:

  • Facilitate & coordinate all phases of service delivery for children, youth, and families deemed at risk, including but not limited to, identification, intervention, monitoring and consultation services;
  • Develop partnership and liaise with other agencies to increase local access to services for identified students and their families;
  • Oversee the implementation of specific programs within the Schools Plus initiative;
  • Complete all aspects of documentation, data collection and reporting associated with the Schools Plus Project, as required at the Centre for Education and Provincial levels;
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of School Support Services;
  • Develop, coordinate and participate in Regional Schools Plus Advisory Committee meetings.
Qualifications and Experience:The successful applicant will possess the following:
  • Masters of Social work plus five years related experience is preferred.
  • Professional social work experience in integrated service delivery and direct service delivery to children, youth and families with complex needs is required.
  • Familiarity and knowledge of the Nova Scotia public school system, Community Services, Justice, Health and community resources is preferred.
  • Current Non-Violence Crisis Intervention certification or willingness to obtain.
  • The capability to develop budgets and supervise funding utilization to ensure efficient and effective allocation of resources.
  • The ability to keep accurate records, maintain confidentiality and create case plans.
  • The ability to work independently and to work collaboratively with various service providers.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to plan and organize a demanding caseload with minimum supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience in group facilitation and working with Advisory Committees.
  • The ability to engage and work with diverse communities and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • The ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of youth and their families.
  • A valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
