Job Description

BERWICK HOME HARDWARE in the Annapolis Valley has an immediate opening for a YARD/WAREHOUSE SUPERVISOR. The ideal candidate will have the ability to maintain the lumber yard and warehouse as well as assign and delegate jobs to team members. The candidate will have previous experience in lumber and building materials with the knowledge and ability to give direction to team members and customers. They will assist and supervise or perform loading and unloading of materials and ensure they are stored in the proper locations. This may be accomplished by using a variety of equipment including fork lifts and pallet jacks. The Supervisor will also ensure that all customers entering the yard for product will be looked after in a timely and courteous fashion.The chosen candidate will be responsible to report any shortages, damages, errors in shipping, etc. to the Yard/Warehouse Manager and or Store Manager as applicable. This person will also be responsible to ensure all paperwork for shipping and receiving product will be dealt with on a timely basis.The Supervisor will also assist in yearly inventory counts as well as ongoing cycle counts as determined by management.QUALIFICATIONS;

  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with customers, management and other employees
  • ability to take direction and suggestions from Management and Contractor Sales Representatives
  • must be alert to all yard activities to assist customers, use equipment efficiently, help in loss control, and yard/warehouse safety measures.
  • ability to give direction to other yard workers including drivers
  • possess the ability to work co-operatively in a team atmosphere
  • have the ability to determine the order in which deliveries to our customers and contractors should be done.
  • possess a current fork-lift certification or willing to take training or recertification
  • be cognizant of any safety issues that may arise with the ability to deal effectively with such issues
  • ability to work in a fast paced environment, work under pressure, tight deadlines, with attention to detail
  • must possess a valid drivers license
  • candidate will have excellent oral and written communication, reliable, flexible, organized and a TEAM PLAYER
Job Type: Full-timeSalary: $17.00-$20.00 per hourBenefits:
