Job Description

The Supervisor, Accounting supports the Senior Director through providing day to day direction to the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Coordinators to ensure that the team is effective, producing quality work, and is meeting deadlines. The Supervisor, Accounting facilitates discussions between the Accounting Department and other internal and external parties to address issues and revise existing processes if needed. This role safeguards the company assets through the testing and enforcement of internal controls.WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME

WHAT WILL I BE DOINGSUPERVISORY
  • Supervise the activities of the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams.
  • Prioritize tasks and ensure workload is balanced amongst team members.
  • Track and measure the teams’ metrics and review with Senior Director and team members.
  • Provide day to day direction and resolution to team members’ queries.
  • Coordinate changes in processes and controls with team members, other departments on the resort, Denver Shared Services and 3rd party customers and vendors.
  • Ensure team members maintain applicable training (BMR, Alterra, Marriott)
INVOICES, PAYMENT, COLLECTION & FILINGS
  • Ensure AP & AR invoices are properly calculated and recorded in the accounting system within prescribed deadlines.
  • Verify the timely collection of invoices to customers and the payment of invoices from vendors.
  • Work with team members, other departments, customers and vendors to reconcile any differences or issues that are preventing payments from being received or paid.
  • Review customer credit applications and identify potential issues to the Senior Director.
  • Confirm the escalation of issues to the Denver Shared Services team are resolved.
  • Coordinate the Statistics Canada filings data gathering and filings.
AUDIT & CONTROLS
  • Assist to ensure that internal controls are in place and functioning as intended.
  • Assist with the implementation of approved accounting policies and procedures.
  • Prepare working papers to respond to auditors’ queries and ensure that audit deadlines are met.
  • Ensure invoicing and payments are per contracts, agreements, and purchase orders.
  • Bring forward any necessary changes to computer system mappings and interfaces
  • Test applicable computer applications on installs and upgrades.
WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU
  • Post secondary education in a business discipline preferred.
  • Prior supervisory experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of prior experience working in an accounting and finance department.
  • Knowledge of accounting, accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Experience with accounting systems.
  • Experience with property management systems preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, must be service and deadline oriented
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and summarize data and to prepare clear and concise reports
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and maintain a professional approach at all times.
  • Detail – oriented, organized and able to prioritize work.
  • Ability to work in a team based environment.
