Job Description

Preference will be given to qualified regular part-time employees within the Part Time Support Staff bargaining unit at Sheridan College. Should a suitable candidate not be found, external candidates will be considered.The Assessment Centre maintains a commitment to efficient, accurate, and timely services to all campuses and surrounding community. The Assessment Centre provides a wide range of services which includes: scribing, readers, and access to assistive software such as Dragon, Kurzweil, ClockWork, Jaws, and CCTV, and computers, etc.Reporting to the Manager, Assessment Centre, the Part Time Assessment Centre Specialist is responsible for providing quality invigilation and customer service to a diverse college population and outside agencies related to accommodations, post-secondary, admission, placement, external, and short program testingWhat You’ll be DoingAdministering/invigilating exams (post-secondary, accommodated, placement, admission, external, and short program);Deescalate high-conflict situations.Providing frontline service to a potentially a high volume of students and faculty.Report breaches of academic integrity to appropriate staff.Troubleshoot minor technical issues that students may have during their test.Verify accommodations using ClockWork software.Book appointments using the Acuity scheduling system.Entering scores and pertinent information into Sheridan’s databases and screens;Responding to inquiries in person, by phone, or by email; liaise with faculty, program coordinators, and academic schools, as well as external colleges/universities;Providing computer support for online test environments and assistive software (common and unique software packages) as well as troubleshooting minor computer anomalies and compiling and maintaining a broad range of data including service and activity reports and student accommodation records;Other duties as assigned.About YouYou have excellent oral and written communication skills .You enjoy balancing many different tasks and can prioritize multiple projects while staying organized and maintaining a high level of attention to detail .You enjoy working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.You use your interpersonal skills to build working relationships and provide excellent customer service.The successful candidate(s) will also meet the following:2-year diploma in Business along with a minimum of 2-years practical experience in a busy, diverse office setting, with preference to the social services area or a combination of a relevant 2-year college diploma and experience working with students with disabilities in a busy, diverse environmentThe candidate must be able to use Microsoft Office, ClockWork and related software packages; working knowledge of specialized assistive software (Kurzweil, Read and Write, and Dragon) is an asset.Who We Are:Every member of the Sheridan community is passionate about the transformational role we play in people’s lives.
