Job Description

Job DescriptionReporting to the Manager, External Reporting and Data Standards, the successful candidate will assume the role of Consultant Case Costing providing expert analytics, interpretation, and recommendations to improve clinical, statistical, and financial results to internal and external clinical and non-clinical leaders. As Osler is currently undergoing a transition to a new Hospital Information System over the next two years, this role will also have a unique opportunity to inform the integration of case costing information with clinical data and modernize existing processes. A highly skilled, evidence-driven individual with exceptional analytical and communication skills and a demonstrated commitment to advancing business intelligence to enhance decision making will excel in this position.Accountabilities:

  • Lead the case costing submission for William Osler Health System in accordance with Ontario Case Costing Initiative (OCCI) guidelines
  • Maintain case costing data dictionaries, cost model development, cost reconciliations, cost analysis, and cost reporting, including monitoring of regular case costing data and supporting submissions to the Ontario Case Costing Initiative (OCCI) database
  • Act as an internal consultant for reporting requirements and quality improvement monitoring
  • Provide analysis of historical and current patient costing, patient resource utilization, departmental performance, and activity data to assist in the development of comprehensive clinical pathways and other clinical-focused costing reports
  • Work with various team members in Finance, Organizational Performance, Coding and Information Services to ensure data integrity across source systems, and reconciling case costing with the quarterly MIS Trial Balance submissions and Ontario Cost Distribution Methodology (OCDM)
  • Monitor changes in OCCI #39;s Reporting Standards for Case Costing, Ontario Hospital Reporting Standards (OHRS), Management Information Systems (MIS) Guidelines, the CICA Handbook, and Government Regulations, as well as provide leadership in the planning and implementation of any necessary changes which may impact information systems and data holdings
  • Participate in monthly/quarterly variance analysis and compliance reporting; participate in all applicable analyses to achieve accurate and timely case costing and financial/statistical reports; ensure all monthly statistical account reconciliations are completed; participate in the implementation of software modeling to effectively conduct cost benefits studies andquot;what if quot; scenarios as required
  • Inform and support the modernization of current case costing processes as Osler transitions to a new Hospital Information System
  • Participate in other special projects and ad hoc analyses as periodically assigned
  • Work with various clinical teams to ensure the data quality for case costing and recommend appropriate changes/updates to current practices
