JOB TITLE: Economic Development CoordinatorDEPARTMENT: Office of the CAOPOSTING NUMBER: 104933NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1JOB STATUS & DURATION: Full Time PermanentHOURS OF WORK: 35 hour workweekLOCATION: Hybrid Model – when working onsite, you will report to the location of City Hall.SALARY GRADE: 5HIRING SALARY RANGE: $82,748.00 - $93,092.00 per annumMAXIMUM OF SALARY RANGE: $103,435.00 per annumJOB TYPE: Management and AdministrationPOSTING DATE: August 17, 2022CLOSING DATE: August 30, 2022AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:Reporting to Manager, Investment Attraction, this position is responsible for project leadership and execution of economic development projects focusing on workforce development, developing and maintaining key partnerships (public and private) and supporting the business community to retain and attract business investment and job creation, in order to meet the City’s strategic vision to be a world class city of opportunity.Project leadership and liaison. Responsible for the planning, implementation and maintenance of the projects identified and outlined in the Economic Development Master Plan and other vital programs in Economic Development. Liaise with selected businesses and business organizations to develop and/or enhance relationships when planning and producing programs. Develop marketing plans that will engage local business interest groups to sustain continuous growth and development. Facilitate group sessions and establish working committees that showcase Brampton to sustain continuous engagement and sector growth and development. Ensure programming excellence by researching, designing and developing new programs and enhancing existing programs. Assist the Senior Manager and Sector Managers with program initiatives.Conduct business visits and collaborate with identified new and existing companies outside key sectors, to nurture relationships and ensure business growth services, trade and export services, investor development and supply chain initiates are fully integrated to maximize resources and results.Implementation of Marketing/Communications Initiatives. Coordinates special promotions, trade shows, and marketing. Assists in the preparation of copy, statistics, PowerPoint presentations, council reports, and media releases. Works with marketing agencies and internal communications department. Maintain current knowledge of local economic trends and policy which impact business and provide presentations before business community stakeholders.Coordination and administration. Participates in the coordination of administration for programs including: tracking of budget and actual expenditures against the plan; reporting on status of strategy; ensuring compliance with purchasing policy and procedures (developing RFPs, RFIPs, etc.).Participates in various planning processes. Drafts speaking notes relevant to special event programs and researches topics for speech purposes as requested.Ad hoc project participation. Participates on projects which are initiated by Council, Economic Development Committee, and/or Management, such as inbound/outbound delegations, new events, and special promotions.Liaise and present. Attends organization meetings and liaises with community leaders, members of City Council, Economic Development Committee, business leaders, ICI industry and staff in a positive, diplomatic, pro-active and responsive manner. Appears before large and small groups to deliver presentations.Performs additional similar and related duties as assigned.SELECTION CRITERIA:EDUCATION:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in economic development, business administration, public relations, sales and marketing or equivalent.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • 3-5 years’ experience in municipal economic development, corporate business development and marketing. Project management experience and application of methodology.
  • Experience providing excellent customer service, networking with diverse groups and building strong relationships.
OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:
  • Partial or full completion of EcD professional designation an asset.
  • Strong business foundation and an understanding of marketing and production process.
  • Excellent report writing and demonstrated track record in presenting to small and building strong relationships.
  • Computer proficiency with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Customer Relationship Management software (CRM).
  • Excellent report writing and demonstrated track record in presenting to small and large groups.
  • Good analytical skills for complex problem solving.
  • Valid Ontario non-probationary Class G driver’s License and have access to a personal vehicle.
