Salary Range is $61,410.02 to $69,060.77 annuallyWe are currently seeking a contract full-time Fundraising Officer to join our team from August 2022 until November 2023. As a Fundraising Officer, you’ll be responsible for the coordination of events, fundraising, managing donor activities and revenue generation including writing grant proposals and business cases. The Fundraising and Events Officer represents the Agency in a range of community and business settings to present information in an engaging, comprehensive, knowledgeable, and readily accessible manner to stakeholders, staff and clients.What you will do
  • Facilitate the preparation, implementation and management of a comprehensive development strategy including individual, corporate and foundation giving and special event fundraising
  • Write, edit, and coordinate submission of all fund development and grant writing initiatives including assisting with conceptualizing, designing and preparing new programs, program proposals and related reports, and writing and submitting all grant proposals and funding applications
  • Lead the planning and execution of CMHA’s annual ‘Ride, Don’t Hide’ Event and lead the annual United Way Greater Toronto campaign
  • Oversee and coordinate the annual Employer of Choice Award process
  • Prospect, solicit, and steward new individual donors, as assigned
  • Facilitate CMHA fundraising activities, including the preparation and delivery of prospect research, application submission, tracking and post-grant reporting
  • Facilitate plans for securing corporate sponsorships in coordination with the communications team
  • Participate in community development and seek opportunities to join and/or chair committees applicable to the role
  • Implement stewardship and recognition strategies ensuring all donors receive correspondence, reports and updates in a timely manner for all fundraising programs
  • Oversee and coordinate all volunteers and provide daily leadership (informal supervision) to staff, students, and volunteers – coaching, modeling, mentoring, motivating and leading staff, ensuring effective service delivery and follow-through
  • Develop event budgets, manage costs effectively
What you need to join our team
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in fundraising roles in a corporate or not for profit environment
  • Relevant post-secondary degree/diploma or equivalent
  • Event planning experience is required
  • Familiarity with GiftWorks, Raiser’s Edge or similar donor database
  • Ability to develop strategic approaches to identify and develop corporate relationships
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
  • Proficiency in social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) an asset
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills. Project management an asset
  • Demonstrated leadership in organizational committees, projects, and other work groups
  • Strong verbal and written communication across multiple mediums and ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Resourcefulness, flexibility, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with management and front-line staff
  • Well-developed and demonstrated knowledge of mental health, mental illness, stress management, anti-stigma, workplace wellness, mental health system issues and health promotion principles (Knowledge of concurrent disorder, addictions, and dual diagnosis would be an asset)
  • Knowledge of or experience in the fundamentals of philanthropy
  • Proof of approved vaccination by Health Canada prior to start date. If unable to be vaccinated for reasons relating to protected grounds under the Code, completed medical or religious exemption must be provided
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license and access to an insured automobile in good repair
  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check) report
  • Comfortable lifting and carrying objects up to 25 lbs for event set up and sitting for long periods
