Job Description

Terraprobe Inc. is looking for an Intermediate Risk Assessor to join our team at our BRAMPTON office. The candidate will be a member of a team providing scientific consulting services to private industry and government clients. This position will support a wide variety of projects, and the candidate would be working in the* Risk Assessment Group*. Some of the duties of this position may include:Responsibilities:

  • Prepares / Leads the development of ERAs in accordance with federal and provincial guidance.
  • Provides technical leadership and oversight support in environmental consulting or regulatory environment with a focus on on-site investigation/remediation, applied toxicology, and/or ecological risk assessment.
  • Reviews and interprets environmental and toxicological studies and reports.
  • Supports remedial strategy development for contaminated sites, including evaluating environmental sensitivities and mitigation/restoration techniques for remedial actions.
  • Assists in the development of sampling and analysis plans for various media, including soil, groundwater, sediment, sediment porewater, tissue, and surface water.
  • Prepares written documents such as letters, memoranda, proposals, work plans, and investigative reports.
Requirements:
  • Degree in toxicology, biology, chemistry, environmental science, or similar field.
  • 5-8 years of related ecological risk assessment experience.
  • Registered, or eligible for registration within two years, with the Ontario Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change as a Qualified Person for Risk Assessment (QPRA) per Section 6 of O. Reg. 153/04.
  • Must have or be able to readily produce an Excel-based ecological exposure model for both federal and Ontario-based ERAs.
  • Experience with water quality issues and soil/sediment contamination concerns.
  • Familiarity with Federal (CCME, FCSAP) and Ontario Environmental Regulation, and Risk Assessment models.
  • Excellent computer application and spreadsheet skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and technical report writing skills.
  • Working knowledge of statistics, knowledge of and experience with industry-specific software (e.g., MS Office), and knowledge of ProUCL would be an asset.
