Terraprobe Inc. is looking for a Junior Environmental Scientist to join our team at our BRAMPTON office. The candidate will be a member of a team providing scientific consulting services to private industry and government clients. This position will support a wide variety of projects, and the candidate would be working in the Risk Assessment Group. Some of the duties of this position may include:Responsibilities:Provide technical support in all phases of human health risk assessment and/or ecological risk assessment, including, but not limited to, site characterization, fate and transport modeling, data quality objectives, quantification of risk and hazards from contaminants, and/or development of site-specific remedial goals for a range of environmental mediaReview and manage datasets, prepare screening tables and summarize findings,Assist senior staff in preparation of formal reports, field reports, technical submittals and internal correspondenceReview and search data and rationale guidance documents to prepare references and supporting documentsConduct statistical analysis of complex datasetsAssist and conduct calculations for fate and transport modeling, exposure/risk modeling, and vapor intrusion modeling for hazardous chemicalsAssist and develop conceptual site exposure modelsAssist in preparing response to inquiries pertaining to human health and/or environmental effects of specific chemical substancesRequirements:1-3 years of related environmental science or toxicology experienceDemonstrated knowledge in areas of risk assessment and toxicologyExperience with water quality issues and soil/sediment contamination concernsFamiliarity with indoor air vapor intrusion modeling for human health risk assessmentFamiliarity with Ontario Environmental Regulation, and Risk Assessment modelsWorking knowledge of statisticsKnowledge of and experience with industry-specific software (e.g., MS Office) and knowledge of ProUCL would be an assetExcellent written and verbal communication skills and technical report writingAttention to detail, including calculations, spelling, and grammarExcellent computer application and spreadsheet skillsDegree in toxicology, biomedical sciences, biology, chemistry, environmental science or similar fieldCompensation and Benefits:Salary (to be discussed)At Terraprobe Inc., we know that great experiences start with the right people.
