Specialist, Learning and Member Services12-month contract position #20221121SLMVolunteer MBC is the local volunteer centre serving Peel region (Mississauga Brampton, and Caledon).   • A degree either in volunteer management, human resource management, non-profit management, public administration, or a related field
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in volunteer engagement, human resources, non-profit management, public administration, or a related field

  • Experience with learning and resources management
  • Certificates of training in not-for-profit related subjects
  • Experience with research and data analysis
  • Experience with data visualization, Microsoft Dynamics and/or Power BI
Key tasksMembership Development
  • Produce a plan to grow both revenue and number of member organizations
  • Develop realistic operational plans to achieve the growth, outlining resources needed to achieve the growth
  • Identify the opportunities to market and network with prospective members and develop outreach strategy
  • Prepare growth strategy plan with a realistic budget, including prospecting and market segmentation
  • Conduct SWOT analyses and identify benchmarks for membership services
  • Publish reports of current trends/forecasts by monitoring and effective evaluation of statistics and data
Member Relations
  • Build strategic relationships and participate in community networks and roundtables to advance VMBCs mission
  • Build and manage relationships with member organizations and update CRM
  • Ensure regular touch points and develop member retention strategies
  • Frequently communicate with existing and new members to check their service needs (one-on-one communications, secondary research, pulse polls, surveys, environmental scans, etc.)
  • Support the onboarding of new members and develop and revise member resources
  • Ensure the satisfaction of existing members through both formal and informal feedback
  • Develop mechanisms to ensure implementation of the actions derived from member feedback
  • Strengthen the member services and address areas of improvement
Performance and Learning
  • Position Volunteer MBC as a thought leader in volunteerism in forums/initiatives and provide support, consultation and/or management of these forums/initiatives
  • Support the learning needs of the not-for-profit sector by offering programs and resources that are relevant to stakeholders and our mission (especially with regard to volunteer management, not-for-profit management, board governance, corporate volunteering, community volunteerism, etc.)
  • Publish reports of current trends/forecasts by monitoring and effective evaluation of statistics and data
  • Prepare learning and knowledge sharing opportunities (in-person workshops, webinars, and resource banks) to address key stakeholders in the charitable sector, including not-for-profit staff, board members and volunteers
  • Support peer networks coordinated, moderated and/or facilitated by Volunteer MBC

Time Commitment and Location
  • Expected start date: November 21, 2022
  • Expected end date: November 17, 2023
  • 35 hours per week; generally 9:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday
Some evenings or weekends as per community needs
  • Primarily virtually from home, therefore a reliable computer and high-speed internet connection are required
Compensation
  • Wage of $25/hour
Reporting
  • Reports to Director, Community Development
  • Weekly check-ins with supervisor will be required
  • Timesheets including a summary of activities will be collected
  • All works created become the intellectual property of Volunteer MBC
