Job Description

This position is for Massiv Die-Form, a division of Cosma International.Cosma International, an operating unit of Magna International, is one of the world‘s premier global automotive suppliers providing a comprehensive range of body, chassis, and engineering solutions to our customers.   • Gaining a working knowledge of the theory and practical application of the machining procedures for the assigned CNC Gun drilling machining centre(s) in the department
  • Performing and assisting with job setups in a safe manner
  • Safely handling and manipulating mold blocks and components with overhead cranes and lifting devices
  • Ensuring and verifying that the finished results of any job are to the internal and external customer specifications, and report all problems or discrepancies to the Contour Milling Coordinator
  • Return all tooling to the proper location immediately following use; Ensure that damaged tooling is reported immediately
  • Carry out quality checks on an ongoing basis to ensure job is within tolerance
  • Make tool selection
  • Prepare machine logbooks and required reports on a daily basics
  • Communicate necessary information to Lead hand and co-workers from shift to shift.
  • Provide timely and accurate feedback to the Senior Operators regarding job progress relative to milestones
  • Participate in the analysis of acquired facts and information for problem solving to the success of a tool
  • Embrace and support the advancement and implementation of new technologies and processes
  • Demonstrate a positive, proactive attitude and approach in all aspects of job
  • Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by all health, safety and environmental rules and regulations, promoting safety in the workplace
  • Report all accidents/incidents and unsafe conditions/behavior
  • Adhere to applicable quality systems and Support the total Management System (MAFACT, WCM, ISO-9001)
  • Responsible for applicable QEMS policies, procedures and work instructions.
  • Adhere to and promote the Magna Employee Charter; work within the rules, regulations and guidelines of the Employee Handbook and follow all instructions, policies and procedures
  • Participate in and support Continuous Improvement and Lean initiatives
  • Maintain work area in accordance with the principles of 5S and operate daily within these standards; Ensure work area is kept neat and organized
  • Perform other duties as required
Key Qualifications/Requirements
  • Licensed Machinist or equivalent experience
  • Minimum completion of Grade 12 diploma
  • Working towards a technology or trade certification, an asset
  • Previous experience in an automotive manufacturing environment, an asset
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Knowledge of machining standards and expectations
  • Able to assess situations and determine when to ask for assistance for decision making
  • Good listening, verbal, written and communication skills
