This role offers the unique opportunity to establish broad policy and program direction, implement strategic priorities; work collaboratively with stakeholders and residents to address social issues, build capacity of collaborative networks and identify key metrics that address poverty, systemic issues, and community wellbeing faced by marginalized and equity deserving groups to advance the social and economic interests of Peel’s most vulnerable residents.What you will do in this role:

• Identifies and prioritizes poverty related issues to advance the vision and objectives of the Peel Poverty Reduction Strategy
• Build strategic relationships with key collaborators, internal and external system stakeholder such as school boards, area municipalities, United Way Greater Toronto, Indigenous, racialized and newcomer serving organizations, and other provincial and community partners that are working to address poverty in Peel by setting objectives, prioritizing, scheduling tasks and coordinating resources
• Manages the identification, design, establishment and implementation of key performance indicators to track the achievement and success of the Peel Poverty Reduction Strategy and Community Engagement framework
• Manages a team of seasoned professionals including hiring, coaching, motivating, developing job objectives, managing performance and assigning and delegating work
• Develops and empowers staff and project teams by providing regular feedback, strategic direction and involvement in key decision-making processes where appropriate
• Influences policy development, project planning, service delivery framework and program evaluation activities to advance the Peel Poverty Reduction Strategy and Community Engagement framework systemic change efforts
• Recommends innovative approaches to service delivery through an anti-oppression, equity and community development lens
• Monitors, reviews, analyzes and integrates findings from legislation, intergovernmental affairs, community, demographic and economic trends that may affect poverty reduction and community engagement efforts
• Communicates poverty related issues and activities through a variety of mediums including conferences, seminars, workshops, social media, presentations, newsletters and annual reports
• Provides strategic leadership and direction on committees and implements initiatives based on related to strategic direction e.g.: Term of Council Priorities (internal) and Poverty Reduction subcommittees and focus groups hosted by various levels of government
• Initiates and supports the procurement process for external vendors required in the execution of program / project deliverables
• Develops and administers the annual budget for the unit, ensuring appropriate expenses are tracked and control mechanisms are in place

What you bring to this role:

• Post secondary education in Human Services or a related field combined with at least 5 years of work related experience in poverty reduction initiatives.
• 5 years of progressive management and leadership experience directly overseeing a team of employees
• Comprehensive knowledge of poverty reduction initiatives and community development methodology to lead the complex work of the poverty reduction and community engagement units and drive the guiding strategies to achieve multiple outcomes.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills as issues are diverse and require in-depth investigation and research.
• Demonstrated knowledge of integrated planning, its various components and the policy making process.
• Demonstrated experience in building coalitions, partnerships, and collaborative relationships with other governments, sector associations and business groups and to navigate and lead effectively in this environment to achieve program objectives.
• Proficient skills in negotiation, facilitation, and consensus building to ensure stakeholders are engaged in planning and delivery of services, and stakeholder issues and relationships are well managed.
• Advanced strategic thinking, problem solving, planning, management skills and budget acumen, including experience managing funding envelopes.
• Demonstrated experience managing projects of multiple linked projects within and across systems.
• Ability to strategically balance Human Services accountabilities with the needs of other internal and external partners

Location: In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton, ON worksite as well as travel to other community partners. The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.Hours of Work: 35 Hours per week; Monday to Friday.
