Program Manager, Infrastructure Programming & Studies TransportationPublic Works - TransportationRegular Full TimeSalary Range: $104,508-$130,636 per annum plus comprehensive benefits and vacation accrualWork mode: Hybrid * see below for more details about this work mode.Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton ONHours of work: 35 Hours per weekWho we are: The Transportation team constructs, operates, plans and maintains a multi-modal network of assets such as roadways, bridges, sidewalks and multi-use trails, stormwater infrastructure, street-lighting, traffic signals, noise and retaining walls, signs, safety barriers and street trees.We drive from our strengths, flexibility and responsiveness to the changing needs of Peel. It’s where our commitment to creating a Community for Life meets the road for our residents, businesses and travelers.Reports to: Manager of Transportation Infrastructure Programming and StudiesTeam size: In this role you will Manage a team of 6 non-unionized employees including Project Managers and Specialists.What you will do in this role:

  • Lead a team Project Managers and technical staff conducting Environmental Assessments and Feasibility Studies to support the expansion and improvement of Peel’s road network
  • Provide frontline supervision (coaching/mentoring and assisting in conflict resolution in a high pressure environment) to reporting staff, including administrative responsibilities such performance appraisals, hiring, career development, and addressing performance related issues.
  • Responsible for the identification and development of the transportation program budget including new infrastructure, replacement infrastructure and other projects that contribute to the service levels of our roadways.
  • Contributes to the development of Peel’s transportation master plans.
  • Leading the development charges background studies, ensuring all future growth-related projects are properly identified and funded in accordance with the Development Charges Act.
  • Integral part of the growth management working group and supports the growth management office and leadership team
  • Act as a representative of the Region during interactions with Regional Council, MECP, Conservation Authorities, Utilities, and other agencies.
  • Provide technical or professional advice and guidance to other internal contacts
  • Review/improve and implement existing and new business processes within the transportation program
  • Respond to customer service inquiries, develop solutions to technical problems and service problems
  • Prepares and presents to the public, council and stakeholders in various venues such as council meetings and public meetings
  • Assists with the execution of Agreements with Local Municipalities and/or Government Agencies such as Conservation Authorities, MTO and Metrolinx
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias
What the role requiresEducational Background/ Must Haves/Bonafide Job Requirements:
  • A degree/diploma in Civil Engineering, Urban/Regional Planning, Finance, or related field
  • 5 to 8 years experience in planning and/or management of transportation budgets and minimum 3 years of supervisory/management experience; A combination of education and related work experience may be considered
  • Thorough knowledge of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment and Transit Project Assessment Process (TPAP) processes
  • Thorough knowledge of the Development Charges Act
  • Knowledge and experience with the municipal budgeting process and applicable bylaws and legislation
Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to prepare required reports, conduct training and oral presentations/discussions and liaise with stakeholder groups
  • Professional acumen and strong public relations skills
  • Information analysis skills to evaluate and integrate analyses, which come from multiple sources (business and technical) in order to provide substantive recommendations, develop business rationales or to develop major program changes.

10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton ON worksite. The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements.
