Job Description

Supervisor, Community EngagementHuman Services- Social Development, Planning and PartnershipsRegular Full TimeSalary Range: $94,424-$118,028 per annum plus comprehensive benefitsWork mode: Hybrid * see below for more details about this work mode.Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton, ONHours of work: 35 Hours per weekWho we are: This portfolio will manage the Affordable Transit Program and supervise Community Engagement staff who focus on a range of issues including: poverty reduction, anti-human trafficking, equity and inclusion, food insecurity and community engagement and capacity building with diverse stakeholders. The Supervisor will partner with other Human Services Divisions as well as other Regional Departments and various Community Partners and Stakeholders to address these issues.Reports to: Manager of Poverty Reduction and Community EngagementTeam Structure: Leads a professional team of Specialists, Community Relations, Specialists, Community Development and Coordinator Program Support.What you will do:

  • Supervise employees through a variety of activities including hiring, coaching, motivating, developing job objectives, disciplining, managing performance, assigning and delegating work, ensuring quality and service standards are met.
  • Lead a dedicated team of staff who provide direct service and support to neighborhoods, communities and system tables with the intended outcome of building capacity across sectors whereby strengthening overall community capacity leading to a productive, higher functioning Peel.
  • Support the planning and resourcing of various engagement activities on behalf of the Human Services department across the region.
  • Work with senior management staff within the Department and across departments to support the sharing of information, engagement process and departmental planning.
  • Gather information, trends, issues, gaps and statistics for inclusion in the development of Human Service planning and program design.
  • Support the planning and development of and responsible for the implementation and evaluation of a Community Engagement Strategy.
  • Support the planning and development of a community development plan which assists to build partnerships across system tables to support and elevate the priorities of the Region in partnership with stakeholders
  • Conduct research to support the design, implementation and evaluation of programs from an evidence informed perspective with consideration of best practices and relevant literature.
  • Develop partnerships with internal and external contacts in order to achieve major program objectives
  • Develop requests for funding, presentations to senior level management and council
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias
What the role requiresEducational Background/ Must Haves/Bonafide Job Requirements:
  • Degree or diploma in a social or community related discipline
  • 5 years of work related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 years of supervisory experience, or experience directly related to the oversight of staff
  • In depth working knowledge of Community Development principles and familiar with frameworks such as results based accountability and collective impact as methods to measure population level change.
Skills/Abilities:
  • Extensive skills in negotiation, facilitation, and consensus building
  • Experience with project management, leadership, and coordinating community activities
  • Working knowledge of change management principles
  • Ability to work at a high level with senior management staff from Police, Region, local municipalities, Boards of Education, Executive Directors etc
  • Demonstrates team leadership and participation skills, involving both government and community stakeholders
  • Well-developed communication skills both oral and written
  • Ability to develop an evaluation framework inclusive of outcomes, strategies and indicators
  • Ability to evaluate and analyze data, making recommendations and improvement suggestion

  • Work Mode:In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton worksite. The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.
