May organize and supervise the activities of the member service and banking floor in a branch environment or may direct a specific group in one area (i.e. member services front line reps). This position monitors all front line deposit activities and regularly reviews the performance of the MSRs to ensure that the application of checks and balances are in place including audit trails. The position monitors security requirements and manages cash and negotiable items. Business development responsibilities include the analysis and follow up on member client needs and the initiation of action to promote and deliver savings, service and investment products and shares responsibility for the branches annual operating budget. Responsibilities: Works within defined structure of the deposit area by monitoring the completion of duties and level of service is maintained as to meet the business objectives of the branch. Develop and/or promote programs that will contribute to the growth and development of the deposit portfolio. Maintain programs and in branch processes that will ensure “quality†member service is provided at all times. Monitor the daily activities of the deposit portfolio through reporting and by observation and initiate (or recommend) action to improve performance Develop and/or promote programs and procedures that will identify potential member clients through inquiries and referral sources. Act as the resident expert for all deposit and investment products. Provide leadership and guidance to other staff on the sale and administration of registered retirement and investment vehicles, equity programs, estate accounts, bonds and term deposits. May resolve complex member financial counseling situation. Ensure that all security requirements governing the banking floor are met. Represent the credit union in the community by participating in local business activities that will enhance the image of the organization in the trading area and promote the philosophy and principals of the co-operative movement. Through personal leadership and example, create a working environment conducive to individual staff development, team achievement, productivity and professionalism. Shares responsibility for training and performance management of the staff reporting to the position. Shares responsibilities with Branch Manager and HR for recruiting and selection of staff who report to this position. Review all deposit reports prepared by department, monitor expenses, revenue journal entries, review entries to general ledger if appropriate. Prepare and analyze reports and information for Branch Manager, participate in campaign and special projects, attend meetings and make presentations as required Assist the Branch Manager with the preparation of the business plan and the annual budget. Attend monthly staff meetings and make presentations on department (and branch) actives and performance. Assist in the development and interpretation of the branch operating procedures, personnel policy manual and financial services guide and ensure that internal controls over the deposit function are monitored. Other duties as deemed necessary and directed by your immediate supervisor. Experience: Proven experience in and knowledge of current on-line computer system to the degree that answers can be given and employees trained. Previous accounting experience. Credit union integrated banking system, credit union philosophies and principles, credit union operations with emphasis on positions and their functions, operational and personnel policies and procedures, credit union products and services, competitive products, credit union marketing (i.e.: member profile, competition, etc.), Credit Union Act and regulations governing registered plans. Thorough understanding of functions of positions accountable for; Legislation which impacts Deposit Products; Administration of Estates and Trusts. Computer literacy, keyboarding; word processing and spreadsheet; team leadership; performance management; prevention skills; business writing skills; skill based trainer; supervisory; performance evaluation; delegating; problem solving; accounting; time management; verbal and interpersonal skills; service and selling. Educational Requirements: Preference will be given to those with Post Secondary Education and candidates with a proven track record in credit union/financial institution environment.Minimum grade 12 education and 3 years cash experience or an equivalent combination.
