Together we are responsible for safety, labour standards, apprenticeship, immigration and population growth, and many other facets of everyday life.If you are searching for a rewarding career, we have an exciting opportunity for you to explore as an Occupational Health and Safety Officer.About Our OpportunityThe Inspector works independently and is responsible for the enforcement of the Boiler and Pressure Equipment Regulations, as well as the Power Engineers Regulations, in your assigned territory. This is done through on-site inspection, providing information, advice and technical direction and interpretation of applicable American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes and the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Codes and Standards to owners, operators, employers and employees, contractors, suppliers, consultants, power engineers, etc.As the Inspector you conduct a wide variety of specialized, related technical inspections as well as investigations of accidents and fatalities and alleged violations under the legislation. The Inspector conducts qualification testing of pressure welders and brazers, invigilating exams under the Power Engineers Regulations and ensure compliance with these regulations by issuing orders, including immediate stop work orders as well as initiating prosecution action.As the Officer, you will work under the general supervision of the Chief Inspector/ Manager, Boiler & Pressure Equipment Section of the Technical Safety Division.Primary Accountabilities
