Requisition ID: 121861Opportunity Type: PermanentEstimated Annual Salary: 300,000 - 350,000Type of Remuneration: FFS - Fee For ServiceSite Visit & Reallocation Allowance Programs: Relocation Program; Site Visit ProgramDepartment of Health & Wellness Incentives: Debt Assistance; Tuition ReliefOther Incentives:About the OpportunitySouth Shore Regional Hospital (SSRH) is seeking a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certified cardiologist to join the physician group. SSRH offers echocardiography, exercise stress testing with nuclear imaging and dobutamine stress testing, pacemaker insertion and follow up, endoscopy (therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy), PFTs and a Sleep Lab. There is a Cardiac Rehab Clinic managed by the Nurse Practitioner in collaboration with Internal Medicine Physicians.SSRH is a community site for the Internal Medicine program at Dalhousie University with approximately 6-7 residents per year. In addition SSRH is a community site for the Dalhousie University longitudinal integrated clerkship. This provides an oppoortunity to work as a preceptor with medical sutdents and residents. Incumbant is expected to participate in the call schedule for ICU and IM as well as provide outpatient care appropriate to their subspecialty. Call covers the SSRH along with offering advice and transferring patients from the nearby Fishermens Memorial Hospital in Lunenburg and Queens General Hospital in Liverpool.Responsibilities

  • provide full scope of practice
  • participate in call rotation
  • provide support to your own site but also to others in the Wester Zone if required, which included day-time covergae and occasional overnight/weekend coverage
  • be responsible to the Zone Department Head for Internal Medicine for professional responsibilities and quality of practice
  • operate with the Medical Staff Bylaws of Nova Scotia Health
  • participate in teaching both medical students and internal medicine residents and fellows
Expected HoursFull-time, the successful candidate will be sharing the responsibility of reading the echocardiograms done at South Shore Regional Hospital with one other phyician.
  • on-call requirement (1:7 at full comlement)
  • flexible vacation; maternity/paternity leave (Doctors Nova Scotia); health and dental benefits (Doctors Nova Scotia)
  • compensation is fee for service - annual income will depend solely on yoru own clinical output
  • specialists receive call stipends and other incentives as availalbe through the Master Agreement of Nova Scotia
Qualifications
  • Candidates must be a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada ( RCPSC ) or eligible to take the Fellowship Exam in Internal Medicine
  • must hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
