Job Description

The Ark / Lunenburg County Association for the Specially ChallengedJob Posting: Casual Vocational InstructorTerm: Ongoing, on-call basis (hours are Monday-Friday, 8-3:30pm)The Ark/LCASC is seeking to fill the position of Casual Vocational Instructors. The Ark is a day program that services 60 adults from Bridgewater and the surrounding areas. The Ark offers training opportunities to its clients in areas of horticulture, survey stake production, paper shredding, recycling, retail and many others.We are currently looking for self-motivated, creative and positive individuals to join our casual list. Applicants must be willing and available to work on a casual basis. The ideal candidates would have demonstrated skills in the areas of gardening, crafting, retail, recreation/wellness, or an aptitude to learn the necessary skills for the job.We require instructors who can motivate our clients to participate in the various tasks associated with their day program, as well as build positive, confidence building relationships with them. It is essential that the instructors be positive role models to the clients, demonstrating a good work ethic, positive social interactions with other staff, clients and customers and demonstrate positive lifestyle choices.Job requirements:

  • A combination of work experience in social service environments with positive references, related education and life experience.
  • Training in the core competencies as directed by the Department of Community Services or willingness to do the training.
  • Standard First Aid with CPR C and AED certification or willingness to do the training.
  • A valid class 5 drivers license (must have been a licensed driver for over one year) and the ability to drive a large truck with clients on board.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
  • Capable of doing physically demanding tasks while standing for extended periods of time.
  • Able to manage a group of up to 10 adults with various challenges.
  • Willingness to learn the necessary skills to enhance our production contracts.
  • Willing to help clients with their personal care needs.
Job Type: CasualSalary: From $21.91 per hourFlexible Language Requirement:
  • French not required
Schedule:
  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • No weekends
