Job Description

Overview:Field Service TechnicianKelly Cove Salmon Ltd., a division of Cooke Aquaculture Inc., a dynamic and growing east coast family company, with Platinum Member status in the Canada’s Best Managed Companies Program, is offering fulltime opportunities for highly motivated individual to join the Company’s team as a Field Service Technician based out of our Bridgewater, N.S office.Cooke is a global seafood company with operations in North America, Europe, and South America. Our company’s success is driven by our dynamic, highly skilled, and innovative management team, supported by dedicated employees who live in coastal communities and contribute to the local area’s economy and sense of community.Kelly Cove Salmon is currently operating marine farming sites, that require technologies to monitor, predict, and distribute dissolved oxygen. We are currently seeking applications from qualified individuals to provide service and operational support.The Role:Reporting to the Production Manager, the primary duties will include:

  • Assisting with the design, construction and installation of the system and equipment.
  • Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures and working with operators to ensure that maintenance and safety standards are met.
  • Operating, maintaining, and testing the system and equipment, respond to requests for repairs and services when necessary.
  • Ensuring production processes are operating properly, monitoring system controls, and recording maintenance logs.
  • Responsible for ensuring quality control and reduction of downtime.
  • Collaborate with the system design team and oversee system construction, installation, commissioning, maintaining and overall performance.
  • Manage and oversee supplier/contractors related to the operation.
  • Manage milestones and targets related to the operational production plan.
  • Requirement to have flexibility to travel within Atlantic Canada (including Newfoundland)
  • Will be required to work additional hours to meet schedule requirements
  • Planning and preparation for turnarounds or projects to insure we have the parts, tools, equipment, and personnel to complete to the assigned work.
  • Monitor progress and performance against plan; take action to resolve problems and minimize delays.
  • Identify, develop, and gather the resources to complete the job in the shop or field.
  • Communicate clear instructions to team members and ensure problems with scope are addressed early.
  • Consistent communication with Management.
Skills and Experience:
  • 2+ years working experience in a commercial setting as a pipefitter, Industrial mechanic technician or similar.
  • Good understanding of reading design drawings, installation procedures and schematic blueprints is desired but not required.
  • Working understanding of gases and pressures is desired but not required.
  • Excellent computer and communication skills
  • Repair malfunctions, breakages, or leaks
  • Having mechanical aptitude is desirable.
The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated team player with experience in mechanical field service environment(s). This is a labor-intensive position and applicants must be comfortable working outside and on the water. Must be willing to work flexible hours and have reliable transportation. Preference will be given to applicants with related post-secondary education and relative industry certification.The Opportunity:The role description is just one part of the story.
