EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITYFire Inspector/ Building OfficialOur vibrant community is seeking a motivated candidate to assume the role of Fire Inspector/ Building Official for our Engineering Department.Position Summary:Fire Inspector: Performs duties and enforcement pertaining to fire and life safety as per Nova Scotia Fire Safety Regulations, the Nova Scotia Fire Safety Act and the National Fire Code of Canada and Chapter 18 of the Towns Bylaws.Building Official: Performs inspection of buildings to ensure compliance with the Nova Scotia Building Code Act, Nova Scotia Building Code Regulations, the National Building Code, the Municipal Government, and other applicable Acts and Regulations.Preference will be given to candidates with the following qualifications:Education:

  • A High School diploma or equivalent
  • Post-Secondary education in a related field is an asset
Certification:
  • Level 1 Fire Inspector Certification
  • Qualified as a Level 1 and Level 2 Nova Scotia Building Official or willingness to be obtained within a reasonable period of time.
  • Certification at a Level 1 and Level 2 Nova Scotia Building Official or willingness to obtain the same within a reasonable amount of time.
  • WHMIS
  • First-Aid/CPR
  • A valid Nova Scotia Class 5 drivers license
Experience:
  • Previous industry experience is an asset
