Oversees file administration, service requests, museum general email account, and supports grant applications. This is an administrative position, with a primary responsibility to collate information, manage files, create more accessible offerings, and maintain community requests.KEY QUALIFICATIONS:Education

  • Post-secondary diploma in business administration, public relations, education, administration, or related field considered an asset
  • A combination of education and experience may also be accepted
Experience
  • Previous experience with records management, archives, and/or collection management is a strong asset; or
  • Customer service
  • Experience creating public-facing museum or cultural experiences
  • Experience in interacting with the public in small and large groups
  • Time management and task prioritization
  • Good communication skills, especially writing and reading comprehension
  • Solid research skills
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritizing and execution skills
Ability
  • Demonstrated ability to manage files, conduct research, write grants, prepare reports
  • Work well under pressure while maintaining customer service
  • Maintain a rapport with diverse stakeholders, patrons, volunteers, and the public
  • Self-starter that functions with a high degree of independence
  • Team player that is a pro-active problem solver and generates ideas
  • Ability to manage divergent projects concurrently
Knowledge
  • Familiar with local culture, including an interest in regions history and heritage
  • Inventory, databases, and records management
Terms and Conditions of Employment:
  • Non-union
  • Part-Time, Permanent role (20 hours per week, variable schedule)
  • Location of work: 130 Jubilee Street, Bridgewater, Nova Scotia
  • Days of work Tuesday to Saturday, generally 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., with variable hours as required. Regularly scheduled hours require weekend work and may be required to work evenings. Flex time arrangements possible. No overtime pay.
  • $21,240 – $27,482 annually, based on part-time hours
  • Incumbent must provide an up-to-date security check.
