The regional palliative care team are seeking applications for a 0.5 FTE locum to permanent, Certified Palliative Medicine Physician to join the palliative care team. This position provides coverage to palliative patients and families at home, hospital and hospice. Work as apart of a collegial team, serving communities such as Chester, Mahone Bay, Lunenburg, Bridgewater, New Germany and Liverpool. Three hospitals; South Shore Regional Hospital, Queens General Hospital, and Fishermans Memorial Hospital; with its new 5 bed palliative care unit, serve this area. A supportive palliative care team is in place, and consists of palliative care nurses, social workers, administrative assistant, a program manager and two other Palliative Care Physicians.In addition to playing an important clinical role, collaboration and consultation to family physicians and medical specialists using a shared-care model. The physicians are able to link with Dalhousie University and provide teaching to medical students and residents and/or participate in research. CCFP certified (or equivalent) candidates must have a certificate of added competence (or equivalent) in Palliative Care. FRCPC certified candidates must have either a certificate of added competence (or equivalent) in Palliative Care or Royal College certification (or equivalent) in Palliative Medicine. Preference will be given based on full time experience in palliative medicine. Candidates must be eligible for specialty licensure in Nova Scotia and must be able to independently commute to a variety of care settings served by our service.ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include but are not limited to:
