The Utility Labourer I position is a non-technical general labour position which performs municipal works duties as required to maintain and improve municipal infrastructure. This is a seasonal position (April – December, approximately). Seasonal Labourers may be recalled during lay-off periods for winter snow clearing work, as required.Preference will be given to individuals with the following qualifications: Education: · High School diploma or equivalent (preferred);· Post-secondary education in a related field (asset).Licenses and Certifications· Valid Nova Scotia Class 5 driver’s license (required)· First-aid (required, but may be supplied by employer)· WHMIS (required, but may be supplied by employer)Experience: · 2 years of experience in construction or a related field is required.Essential Skills: · Effective communication skills both verbal and written.· Ability to work co-operatively and effectively as a part of a team.· Ability to accurately record various forms of data and maintain accurate records.View the job description here.Wages: $18.39/hrStatus: Unionized (CUPE, Local 1092, Seasonal (April – November, approximate)Hours of Work: 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday, 8:00am- 4:30pm).
