We are seeking a compassionate & organized person with experience in education and/or social work to join our new Indigenous Employment Hub team as a Career Program Facilitator at our beautiful location in Ladysmith, BC on central Vancouver Island. The Career Program Facilitator will work collaboratively with our Educators, Administration, Partners and Community Members, including Elders & Knowledge Keepers, to support adult training programs. While the focus for this position is on employment opportunities & skill development for our adult Stz’uminus & Coast Salish community members, our programs span all ages and you may work with high school students in career education & preparation.THE OPPORTUNITYYou organize & facilitate training programs including session planning & logisticsYou enhance client support through respectful professional relationships with a deep understanding of Coast Salish ways and values & proximity to the CommunityYou build relationships with clients directly & communicate with them regarding training opportunities using a variety of methods & channelsYou support success for adult learners within the Community by assisting with technology, organization, assignment management etc. and by providing social-emotional resources, skill building & supportsYou support Elders, speakers & visiting guests during training sessionsYou easily build & maintain a respected reputation in the community while respecting & following Coast Salish ways of knowing & beingYou collaborate with staff to understand the SES vision, mission & provocative propositionsYou support clerical & administrative tasks within the Lifelong Learning DepartmentWHAT YOU BRINGYou are dedicated to lifelong learning and possess post-secondary education in Career Development, Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Education, Counselling, or a related fieldYou are passionate about supporting Indigenous students and community members to realize their potential and expand their career opportunitiesYou are empathetic with strong interpersonal skills and an understanding of the history of Indigenous people and communities, including intergenerational trauma, allowing you to apply a trauma-aware approach in your work.You possess expert knowledge when it comes to technology (social media, Microsoft 365 including Excel, schedule & resource management).
