Clinic Details — Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital:The largest diagnostic and acute care hospital in the West Kootenays, the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH) is a 75-bed full service regional hospital serving 80,000 people in the Kootenay Boundary region. KBRH offers core specialist physician services including 24-hour Emergency and Trauma Services, Level 2 Laboratory, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Acute and Obstetrical Care, Orthopedics, Plastics, Urology, Ophthalmology, Psychiatry, Chemotherapy and advanced diagnostic services. KBRH is the regional base for the 24-hour High Acuity Response Team (HART) consisting of dedicated critical care transport nurses, and as required, respiratory therapists, who respond to support rural and remote clinicians in the transport and management of critically ill and injured patients. Transport is supported by BC Ambulance Services (BCAS) for major medical care with transfer to Kelowna that is 313 kilometers from Trail.Practice Details:The Kootenay Bone and Joint Group is recruiting for an Orthopaedic surgeon to join our team. The successful candidate will be a general orthopaedic surgeon. Subspecialty training in Foot and Ankle, Arthroplasty, and/ or Trauma will be considered assets. The successful applicant is expected to: • Provide MOCAP level one on-call coverage, call is equally distributed and averages 1:5. • Operate at KBRH & open an elective practice in the Trail/ Rossland area. Opportunity to join existing practice with 3 other orthopaedic surgeon with shared overhead costs and office space. • Teach medical students and residents during their orthopedic surgery rotations As part of the selection process, it is expected that shortlisted candidates will work as a locum for a determined period of time in order to allow the candidate to become familiar with the team, the work site, and the community before the final decision is made. The West Kootenay region offers unparalleled outdoor recreation, including world class alpine and nordic skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and golf. The area has excellent public anglophone and francophone schools and a very friendly and welcoming community.Qualifications:

Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)Doctorate in Medicine
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills Be willing to work as a team with the orthopaedic surgery group, physician colleagues, and other allied health professionals Be capable of dealing with general orthopaedic trauma Be able to work within the existing OR and on-call structure Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) Doctorate in Medicine Licensure with CPSBC and coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association.
