Beacon’s Nature Club Before and After School Care program will servechildren who attend Pexsisen Elementary. Beacon’s Little Stars Pre-School program at Pexsisenlooks forward to welcoming 3- to 5 year-olds who live within Pexsisen Elementary’s catchmentarea.POSITION SUMMARY:Reporting to the Facility Site Supervisor, Child Care Worker joins a caring and compassionateteam that provides an engaged and safe environment for young children.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Implement age appropriate activities for the children reflecting their ability to engage Create and support inclusion for all children Actively engage in respectful communication & supervision of the children registered inthe program Ensure the children are both physically and emotionally safe and well cared for Log attendance, noting any non-attendance communicated via phone calls, voice-mailsor verbally to the school office Note all messages, and responses in the communication log for all staff Maintain open and frequent contact with the parents, referring concerns to the SiteSupervisor. Organize, program plan, problem solve, and generally maintain a well-run care facilityfor children Ensure provision of varied programs of creative activities, outings and supervised play,to meet the unique needs of the children in the program Maintain licensing standards, being fully aware of VIHA policies and procedures Ensure that the program room and equipment are clean and in good repair, this includeswiping tables, dish washing, etc. (daily and weekly duties) Help to prepare healthy snacks Attend staff meetings and actively engage in program planning, and problem solving Model appropriate staff behavior at all times Discuss any noted staff concerns with the supervisorQUALIFICATIONS: Must meet the Licensing Standards of a “Responsible Adult”:o Must be 19+ years of ageo Must have completed 20 hours of childcare education or courseso 3 positive referenceso Current First Aid Certificate Experience in an OSC program is an asset Current WHMIS Certificate (Completion on hiring) Current Food Safety Certificate (Completion on hiring)KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Able to provide a warm, caring learning environment Flexible to changing needs of the program and the children attending Able to work successfully in a team environment Able to effectively use a computer and electronic devices Ability to engage in proactive problem solving and multi-tasking skills which focus onbest possible outcomes for children attendingADDITIONAL INFORMATION:Beacon Community Services serves vulnerable populations including seniors, people withdisabilities and children.
