Job Description

Distributed Learning & Assessment Support Clerk: On-Call (Prince Rupert, Hazelton, Smithers)Job description and dutiesCoast Mountain College (CMTN), Prince Rupert, Hazelton, and Smithers campuses, invites applications for non-regular, on-call Distributed Learning & Assessment Support (DLAS) Clerks. The appointments will commence as soon as possible and end August 28, 2023 for a maximum of 17.5 hours per week, on an as required bases. A flexible schedule will be necessary as some evening and weekend work may be required as well as some travel. The salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Support Staff Scale, Level 4.Duties: With direction from the Centre of Learning Transformation (COLT) team, the DLAS Clerk is responsible for providing services that facilitate learning and teaching delivered at a distance and during assessment activities. This includes functions related to video/teleconferencing, social media, and learning systems. Additionally, the DLAS Clerk will be responsible for distribution of course/exam materials and invigilation as well as other duties of similar scope as assigned.Tasks will include:

  • Communicating with instructors regarding logistics for each class; prepare, test, and set-up classroom and video conferencing technology
  • Trouble-shooting and resolving basic learning technology, wireless network connection problems
  • Escalating issues to IT or COLT in a timely manner
  • Photocopying and distributing course materials, assignments and other materials; collect materials from students and return for processing
  • Invigilating scheduled assessments tests (quiz, mid-term, final)
  • Documenting procedures for learning technology to support College best practices
  • Participating in relevant meetings and liaise with service contacts, administrative staff, campus contacts
QualificationsA minimum of two years of work experience in a customer service environment including experience using a breadth of technology (i.e. office 365, video/web conferencing, email, internet, and standard office equipment.). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Required knowledge, skills and abilities include:
  • Experience in an educational environment is an asset
  • Demonstrates a client-orientated approach with respectful communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Demonstrate ability to follow strict policies, protocols, and procedures
  • Demonstrated combination of troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage tight deadlines, prioritize and coordinate workflow
  • Ability to function effectively across cultures, particularly with the Indigenous communities, is an asset
  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract (access to a vehicle may be required)
