Job Description

Instructor (Non-Regular) - Career & College PreparationJob description and dutiesCoast Mountain College (CMTN) invites applications for a term Instructor in the Career & College Preparation (CCP) program. This appointment will commence September 6, 2022 and end April 28, 2023 (subject to minimum enrolment). Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor salary scale.Duties: Facilitate learning in a pilot program (based in Terrace but delivered in Kitimat) to teach a cohort of students, instructor-led and holistic style, in the following subject areas: Fundamental Math, Fundamental English, Intermediate English, and Intermediate Education & Career Planning. The instructor will also complete the related administrative, record keeping and monitoring activities.Classes will be held Monday to Friday. This appointment will be for 240 instructional hours and up to 47 hours non-instructional time for administrative tasks and generating a final report including an overall summary and recommendations.Qualifications

  • A Bachelors degree in a directly related
  • Provincial Teaching Certificate or a Provincial Instructors Diploma
  • a Master’s Degree in a related discipline or in Adult Education is preferred
  • Teaching experience in an Adult Basic Education / Career and College Prep program at the fundamental level
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching with the ability to motivate and mentor learners of all ages
  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for the best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom
  • Certification and/or experience working with students with disabilities will be an asset
  • Dedication to place-based, experiential learning as evidenced by recent, substantial teaching experience
  • Ability to function effectively across cultures, particularly with the Indigenous communities, is an asset
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
The successful applicant will possess a broad range of content knowledge, confidence and experience in the subject areas.
