Join a team that has the environment down to a science.Your OpportunityStantec is currently seeking a Junior Environmental Planner to work with our Assessment and Permitting Team. The position will be based in Winnipeg and will provide support to all stages of a project #39;s lifecycle including environmental assessment, permitting, and construction and post-construction support. Projects will include small to large-scale provincial and federal environmental assessments for energy, infrastructure, and mining projects. This position is part of Stantec #39;s Environmental Services team that provides the full range of expertise needed to address environmental assessment, permitting, and approval requirements, and construction and post-construction commitments. Our staff members have established excellent working relationships with regulators and clients in across Canada, and our regulatory knowledge, environmental assessment experience, and scientific expertise allow us to help our clients develop the most effective approach to securing regulatory approvals and achieving permitting compliance.Your Key Responsibilities- Provide environmental planning and regulatory support on a wide variety of projects- Support project managers with project team coordination, budget and schedule updates and monthly reporting- Work in a collaborative team of technical environmental and engineering specialists to support permitting processes- Work closely with biophysical disciplines to plan for and manage requirements for field surveys- Assist project teams in the preparation of technical documents that support regulatory application development- Contribute to business development activities, including preparation of proposals and pre-qualification application- Attend team and client meetings- Support and participate in engagement programs with Indigenous groups and the public- Comply with health and safety and quality management processes- Conduct occasional field work, including field surveys under the supervision of a crew lead and environmental monitoring and inspection- Participate in team and independent based work- Track daily reports, incident reporting, task status and project scheduleQualificationsYour Capabilities and Credentials- Ability to work with initiative, professionalism and confidentiality, multi-task and adapt to change in a dynamic environment- Strong technical writing and communication skills- Demonstrated team player with the ability to work independently and take initiative- Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task- Proven problem-solving skills- Working knowledge of MS Office suiteEducation and ExperienceA Bachelor #39;s degree in the Sciences, Engineering, or in Environmental Studies and a minimum of two years of professional experience is required. An understanding of provincial and federal regulations and permitting requirements is an asset. Past field experience, or an interest in conducting field work on an as-needed basis, is an asset.Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
