The primary objectives of the Geocycle Facility supervisor are the hands-on operation and supervision of the pre-processing and liquid facilities at the Brookfield Plant. The incumbent shall supervise the daily operation of the pre-processing facility and perform day to day operations of the liquid facility including, offloading and tank inventory, to deliver a consistent high quality supply of alternative fuels to the plant. The pre-processing facility has 3 hourly operators and a fleet of mobile equipment. The Incumbent will ensure technical excellence with respect to quality control and assurance of the inbound waste materials and pre-processed alternative fuels, in addition to continuous improvement of quality management systems and site laboratory.ResponsibilitiesSafety:

  • Serve as a role model in the areas of safety, leadership, teamwork, customer focus, and continuous improvement to ensure alignment with the company #39;s vision and critical success factors.
  • Support local businesses with Contractor Safety Management (CSM) compliance and training, and third party pre-qualification platform process simplification and accountability on deliverables.
Site Management:
  • Responsible for the operations of the pre-processing facility alongside facility operators, alternative liquid fuels facility, and the site laboratory for testing of inbound waste materials and outbound alternative fuels product.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the pre-processing facility from raw material delivery, to inventory management, documentation, housekeeping and preparation of shredded material.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the liquid fuel facility from truck offloading, tank management, documentation, housekeeping and routine maintenance.
Maintenance:
  • Responsible for the maintenance and general upkeep of the pre-processing, liquid alternative fuels and onsite laboratory facilities.
  • The incumbent will ensure walk-by inspections, and schedules for running maintenance of equipment are maintained and adhered to.
  • The incumbent will notify and liaise with the plant maintenance department of any equipment malfunction that could affect quality and to arrange for periodic and annual maintenance of the shredding and liquid fuels facilities.
Qualityamp; AFR Management:
  • Responsible for accurate analysis, evaluation, and handling of materials received at the pre-processing platform.
  • Performs testing of waste and alternative fuel samples and preparing reports for the Geocycle Facility Manager.
  • Manage A-Cert Program, participate in A-Cert audits and implementing of audit recommendations.
  • Coordinates the QA/QC program with the cement plant and Corporate QA/QC Manager as well as plant along with all other operational requirements (logistics, inventory, safety, etc.).
  • Ensuring transfer of samples to the St-Constant laboratory, validating laboratory results, and analyzing output from laboratory equipment.
  • Assure that H amp;S policy, all procedures and permit are respected.
  • Maintain adherence to AFR policy, A-Cert, ISO, and OSHAS certifications.
Reportingamp; Performance:
  • Ensures the safe, efficient, reliable and environmentally sound operation of the pre-processing and liquid facilities.
  • Ensures compliance with the terms of the SLA (Service Level Agreement) with the Brookfield Plant for all alternative fuels.
  • Ensures all incidents or irregularities capable of affecting quality are reported to the Geocycle Facility Manager and Plant Quality Manager (or designate).
  • Ensures environmental compliance and report any incidents or irregularities to the Geocycle Facility Manager and the Environment Analyst (or designate).
Dy. to Facility Manager:
  • Act as and carry out the responsibilities and duties of the Geocycle Facility Manager in their absence
Relationship with Others:
  • The Geocycle Facility Supervisor reports to the Geocycle Facility Manager and has 3 hourly direct reports.
  • The Geocycle Facility Supervisor will liaise with the plant Production Manager and/or Production Supervisor to organize the day to day requirements for shredded and liquid alternative fuels.

  • Financial Scope: GAV: $5-10mio
QualificationsEducationalamp; Experience
  • Grade 12 education
  • Secondary education in maintenance, chemistry or environment is desirable
  • A minimum of 3 years in cement operations
  • Supervisory experience
  • Laboratory experience
  • Work in the waste industry is desirable.
