Maintain and keep abreast of Plant specific Health and Safety Standards and SOPs and demonstrate these in day-to-day activities. Completes all forms and information for short-term medial claims for employees. Process and completes employee Workers Compensation Reports. Manage employee wellness program. Plan wellness activities, such scheduling with VON and ensuring mandatory tests are conducted.Payrolls: Ensure hourly and salaried employees are paid correctly. Ensure weekly hourly payroll is completely signed off by supervisors to meet payroll deadlines, signing off employees on LTD and filling in when a supervisor is not available to complete this task. Update schedules in Kronos for hourly employees. Update Union Overtime Reports weekly. Maintain all payroll records for permanent, temporary, hourly and salary payroll systems, and ensure all personnel files are uploaded to DocDNA (electronic employee file). Ensure data input is accurate and correct; process change requests to status, personal information, tax information, etc. Report and analyze payroll information for the Plant, region and corporate needs. Ensure updates to payroll system with IT programmers to reflect proposed changes to rates, collective agreements and policies. Ensures that year end vacation pay entitlements are accurate.Personnel/HR: Undertakes candidate searches locally for specific Plant needs (turnarounds, etc). Prepares letters of offer for all new employees (salaried and hourly) ensuring information is accurate (salary, etc). Provides Plant specific orientation information with hiring supervisors to new employees. Meets with new employees to ensure mandatory hiring standards are met (physical and eye examinations, safety equipment, locks, etc). Records Union/Management meeting minutes, create and maintain documents. Receives and numbers union grievances and ensures documents and information are forwarded to interested parties. Maintains local grievance files. Create unionized job postings. Reviews and assesses applications. Determines successful candidates (qualifications, seniority) and post notice of successful candidate. Maintains local Collective Agreement booklet, updating changes as required after negotiations and ensure new booklets are printed and distributed. Notifies HR on planned retirements and facilitates communication processes. Coordinate Brookfield Plant social activities (i.e. golf tournament, Christmas party) Participates in Brookfield Plant Community Outreach activities (i.e. open house, etc).Finance and Budget: Participate in administration activities during budget planning for twelve-month budget-cycle by providing accurate budget reports based on proposed personnel distribution and assignment, proposed plant operations (i.e. turn-around). Develops Plant budget files (spread sheets) as defined by management. Provide payroll budget forecasts (i.e.mid-year) as required. Ensure journal entries are correct and entered for month end. Produce month end reports. Provide summaries and share with managersOutbound Shipping: On daily basis, validate, through query on E1, shipping tickets by balancing weights. Maintains and forward records via scan and email to appropriate parties (CRH swaps and rail car shipments). Ensures billing information is consistent with information received from carriers (daily). Complete shipping tickets with information from carriers, making necessary adjustments to actual loads and accordingly on weights, re-directs, etc. Undertake final daily balance. Develop periphery support (spread sheets) to support process. Undertakes investigations to clear issues and at times, create order numbers, in order to facilitate correct billing.Training: Coordinates technical and corporate initiated training. Ensure alignment of standards and best practices for manufacturing and development. Track all training within Plant on assigned support software and maintain accurate training records. Follow up on expiration training needs (i.e. first aid, confined work spaces). Coordinate with Supervisors to initiate training to meet demands. Participates in training budget development for Brookfield Plant. Specific identified training needs, identify expert training resource and coordinate in-house training.Relationships with Others’ Jobs:Reports to the Plant Manager. Has no direct reports.
