The provincial park protects the unique badlands landscape and the Red Deer River that meanders through the Park. As one of Alberta’s premiere park attractions, Dinosaur Provincial Park is treasured and enjoyed every year by many visitors of all ages.Kinbrook Island Provincial Park is also a very popular destination for camping and outdoor recreation. The lake, beach area, surrounding marshes and large campground provide many outdoor activities such as boating, swimming, sunbathing, fishing, hiking, bird watching and more.Tillebrook is an oasis on the prairie and is a popular campground for locals, avid bird watchers and those that love a beautiful prairie sunset.RoleOur Caretaking team strives to maintain Alberta Parks’ high standards of customer service and safety. Caretakers are highly motivated and well organized individuals who enjoy working in an outdoor environment.Caretaking staff are responsible for:

  • Daily cleaning of all park buildings, facilities, and amenities within the park; including (but not limited to) disinfecting, sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing, washing, cob web removal, and filling necessities. These facilities also include vault toilets (outhouses), shower and washroom facilities, and accommodation facilities
  • Completing minor maintenance repairs and upkeep of these facilities.
  • Cleaning of Comfort Camping units between guests and responsible for all cleaning/sanitization duties associated with the Conference Centre (Dinosaur Provincial Park Only)
  • Collection and disposal of garbage & recycling
  • Regular inspections and upkeep of assigned fleet vehicle/s
  • Responsible for the upkeep and inspection of work spaces
  • Occupational Health & Safety awareness and compliance
  • Support the broader park team to provide a high-level of visitor services
About Your Work Environment:
  • Caretakers work in an outdoor setting and in all types of weather conditions
  • Candidates must have the ability to carry out physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions, including extreme heat
QualificationsRequirements:
  • Some high school education
  • 6 months of directly related experience which could include janitorial, house-cleaning/house-keeping, custodial, or other caretaking work
  • Experience using Microsoft Windows, Email and Internet
  • Valid Class 5 license; unrestricted or GDL
  • 5-year Driver’s Abstract with no more than 8 demerits (4 demerits for a GDL)
  • Defensive driving course required prior to commencement
  • Ability to carry out physically demanding tasks in extreme heat or wet conditions
Assets:
  • Off-highway vehicle and small equipment experience
  • Experience with floor polishing/scrubbing/buffing equipment is an asset
  • Standard First Aid Certificate and CPR-Level C Certificate is an asset and may be required
  • Current WHMIS Certificate
  • Knowledge of local services and tourism opportunities within Dinosaur Provincial Park and surrounding local areas and Provincial Parks

  • 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
  • 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay
Notes
  • Hours of Work: 7.25 hours per day and 36.25 hours per week
  • Evenings, weekends and holiday hours are required
  • Positions commences immediately till Oct 2022
  • Training sessions at the beginning of employment are mandatory
  • Shared rental accommodation may be available
