Job Description

Overview:CDN Controls Ltd. is a fully integrated provider of instrumentation, electrical, automation, communication, combustion and emissions, and meter proving services throughout Western Canada. At CDN Controls, we understand that our employees are the biggest asset in our success, and we take great pride in selecting employees who are team orientated, driven and eager to succeed.Our growing company is currently looking to hire a Purchasing Agent to join our team, based out of our Brooks office. Purchasing Agents are responsible for the ordering, processing, and procurement of requested material, as well as assisting the Warehouse Associates as required. This position will work in a combined office and shop environment from Monday to Friday, 7am-5pm. The ideal candidate will be team-orientated, have the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and initiatives and is interested in growing personally and professionally with us.Responsibilities:As our Purchasing Agent you will be responsible for:

  • Assist Senior Purchasers in the management of orders and requests coming in from the field.
  • Purchase all maintenance orders in the service management module.
  • Collaborate with Senior Purchasers to understand and purchase hard dollar construction jobs.
  • Create and bill direct sales efficiently.
  • Conduct product research to gather pricing, availability, sourcing and pursue cost savings where possible.
  • Offer and provide product knowledge to customers.
  • Process orders from start to finish by following established procedures while ensuring proper communication is followed.
  • Ensure that the operating system data is accurate and up to date.
  • Verify that all backorders are tracked and communicated efficiently.
  • Confirm details of delivery according to scheduled times and commitment dates and ensure that information is communicated accordingly.
  • Ensure inventory control procedures are in place and adhered to.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and clients.
  • Arrange for the loading and transport of materials and supplies.
  • Work closely with Junior Purchasers to ensure correct process and procedures are followed and knowledge is passed on.
  • Off-load freight as required and assist the shipping and receiving department.
  • Adhere to company health, safety and environmental practices and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma with 1 year related experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs - Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to handle a variety of time sensitive tasks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaborate as part of team.
  • Ability to take initiative and learn new tasks quickly.
  • Demonstrated research, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
