Your Opportunity:The successful applicant will join a highly collaborative and supportive SLP team at Brooks Hospital. The team works with OTs, PTs, Social Workers, nurses, physicians, dietitians, TAs and others. AHS provides ample professional development supports and mentorship. This full time position is comprised of more childrens SLP service hours (4 days) and less adult SLP service hours (1 day). The City of Brooks is one of fastest growing communities in Alberta with a multi-cultural diversity. Brooks has a wide range of restaurants, grocery and retail outlets plus educational facilities including the Medicine Hat College and many schools. Lake Newell is about a 10 minute drive from Brooks, and is the warmest and largest person-made lake in Alberta. It is also home to some of the best fishing in South Eastern Alberta, and one of the fastest lakes for sailing and wind surfing. Next to Lake Newell is Kinbrook Island Provincial Park- a great place to camp and enjoy the lake from the beach. There is also a boat launch for you to set sail or you may prefer a kayak trip through the surrounding wetlands. Only a 15 minute drive North of Brooks, you will find Dinosaur Provincial Park. You will be responsible for providing prevention, health promotion, identification, assessment, intervention, and case management. You will participate in planning, coordination and delivery of rehabilitation services in collaboration with patients/clients, families, healthcare professionals and other partners. Your leadership and interpersonal skills will aide you in supervising students and providing clinical guidance to other staff as appropriate. You will use your clinical expertise to inform ongoing quality improvement, service integration, and program development.
