Please view our City of Brooks Careers Corner page for more details.The City of Brooks requires one (1) Utility Clerk in the Finance Department.Job Details & Responsibilities:This position is responsible for the administration, invoicing, and collection of the City of Brooks Utility (water, sewer, garbage, and recycling) user fees in accordance with the Municipal Government Act (MGA), municipal bylaws, and other regulatory requirements.The successful candidate should be self-motivated, have a strong ability to problem solve, and is driven and willing to streamline processes and create departmental efficiencies. The successful applicant will need to have strong computer skills, the ability to meet tight deadlines, conflict resolution skills, and provide professional and timely customer service to both the public and team members.Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Accounting Certificate or enrolled in an Accounting Certificate program;
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in an accounting environment or related field;
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered;
  • Knowledge of accounting procedures and regulations;
  • Ability to ensure all work-related information is kept confidential as per policy and in accordance with The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act;
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and manage workload including the ability to tolerate frequent interruptions and still meet deadlines;
  • Advanced public relations, written, and oral communication skills;
  • Advanced computer and data inputting and manipulation skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a highly efficient team;
  • Team orientated with open communication style;
  • Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy;
  • Demonstrated ability to show initiative; and
  • Subject to a criminal record check.
Compensation & Benefits:
  • The City of Brooks offers a competitive salary and benefits package with this position falling within the scope of the Collective Agreement between the City of Brooks and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 1032.
  • The 2022 salary range for this position is $25.24-$29.16 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. This is a permanent full-time position. The Collective Agreement including wages can be found online at www.brooks.ca.
  • Additionally, you will receive a free family membership to the JBS Canada Centre during your term of employment.
