Come be a part of our inclusive, supportive work environment and make a difference in people’s lives today!Position Title: Apprentice, Low Vision Specialist (Bilingual)Location: Bathurst, NBReports to: Provincial Manager, Service and OperationsTerm: Full Time, PermanentDate: 21 September, 2023Scope and Summary of Primary ResponsibilitiesAs a Low Vision Specialist, you will be trained through our apprenticeship program, to support people of all ages within an interdisciplinary team with the aim to enhance the lives of our clients. In this role you will: Provide individual Low Vision training/intervention programs Conduct functional assessments for clients both in-person and virtual to educate them and provide awareness Assess and train clients in the use of assistive devices and equipmentProvide/advise on low-vision techniques and strategies to assist them in their daily activities and increase their independence Regular travel throughout the province and occasional overnight travel will be required. RequirementsWhat do you need to be Successful in this position:To be successful in this role you must hold a degree, preferably in healthcare, teaching or related human service. You will also have: The ability to study online, be mentored and complete the certification. Prior experience or an interest to work with people with vision loss.Ability to provide exceptional client services and support clients in their sight loss journey. Computer skills, organized with an attention for detail. Strong communication skills, with the ability to use good judgement.
