  • Performs all the duties of the Application Support Specialist 1 job. Provides technical direction to
the Application Support Specialist 1. Responds to telephone and email requests for support andprovides second-level troubleshooting.
  • Identifies application data quality processes and data issues and recommends appropriate
changes to the application or process to correct.
  • Develops training programs and materials, coordinates and conducts user level classroom
training for a variety of IT applications and enhancements.
  • Prepares or updates system documentation, new or revised operating procedures, instructions,
manuals and other documentation.
  • Monitors and ensures application performance, quality and other standards are maintained;
responds to questions and addresses issues escalated by the Application Support Specialist 1.
  • Meets with outside agencies and other BC Hydro business units to gather information required
to clarify their business requirements and to determine how these might be integrated into anapplication; analyzes information from a systems and process perspective and recommends howto proceed with client’s request.
  • Plans and coordinates assigned portions of change management plans; may assign specific
activities to the Application Support Specialist 1.
  • Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties that do not affect the rating of the
job.Qualifications:
  • Completion of a diploma or certificate from a technical institute with a minimum of two (2) years
of practical Technical Help Desk experience acquired as an Application Support Specialist 1 or inan equivalent computer operational position that includes two (2) years experience working with alarge scale and complex application specific to a Business Group or functional group across theorganization, such as McLaren, DAD, Passport, SAP, SAM, ADCS (Itron OCE), MDMS (Itron IEE).
  • Demonstrated proficiency with one or more computer applications assigned to the position (as
determined by operational need), such as McLaren, DAD, Passport, SAP, SAM, ADCS (ItronOCE), MDMS (Itron IEE). Knowledge of adult learning principles is typically acquired through aCertificate in Adult Learning or 2 years of equivalent training experience.
  • Demonstrated capability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with peers,
managers and external contacts.
  • Requires a valid BC drivers licence or demonstrated ability to meet travel requirements
independently.
  • Satisfactory performance on this job may require completion of BC Hydro’s Electrical
