Job Description

BCIT’s Information Technology Services Department is seeking two regular, full-time Enterprise Application Administrators to join our Solution Delivery team. Working with a variety of individuals and teams within and outside the department, you will provide analysis and development support, maintenance, and enhancements to enterprise systems including ERP applications, web and desktop applications, and student information systems.You have at least six years of senior experience in the IT industry, with a strong background in the maintenance and administration of enterprise applications and application development. You possess detailed working knowledge of enterprise application administration, including installation, patching and upgrading; configuration and enhancement; integration; and monitoring. You have significant experience in application development, using industry standard processes and tools. This is a senior position that requires the ability to articulate complex topics to others, in internal and external situations, using both technical and non-technical language. You have worked succesfully on multiple project priorities in projects that vary in complexity, human resource availability and budget. You have a demonstrated aptitude for thinking a problem through and analyzing possible causes and solutions. You are able to identify and apply security concepts and strategies in a complex application environment, and produce detailed technical documentation and user support materials.Duties & ResponsibilitiesDuties & Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, install, configure, and deploy enterprise applications, systems software and products, including enhancements to existing enterprise applications.
  • Contribute to development and maintenance of applications, participating in all phases of the development cycle.
  • Write code as necessary to meet specified business requirements; design and develop scripts to automate processes.
  • Perform daily monitoring and troubleshooting, including performance management, and develop and implement application optimization/upgrades and/or system improvement solutions.
  • Track vendor releases and changes; evaluate content and functionality of upgraded and new software packages, and recommend appropriate upgrade and enhancement paths; install and configure patches and upgrades as required.
  • Document all aspects and procedures for the analysis, installation, configuration and enhancement of enterprise applications.
  • Establish, manage and maintain appropriate access, permissions, and menus for system users on applicable systems.
  • Liaise with vendors and support providers as necessary to ensure prompt resolution of issues and emergencies.
  • Ensure that any integration of systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications.
  • Maintain security of enterprise applications.
QualificationsQualifications:
  • Institute of Technology diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree in science or business; and
  • A minimum of six (6) years current relevant experience in an IT environment similar to BCIT; of which at least four (4) demonstrate application development and administration expertise; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Must have demonstrated specific current IT knowledge.
  • Proven commitment to providing and maintaining the highest level of customer service.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet changing priorities and multi-task while meeting strict deadlines.

  • Commitment to regular ongoing professional development (including specific IT skills, professional associations and current industry trends).
  • High level of professionalism and ethics.
Qualification Specifics:
  • Extensive hands-on development, testing and implementation experience..
  • Extensive knowledge of application development using multiple languages/frameworks such as:
    • Java/J2EE
    • Grails
    • Tomcat
    • SQL/PLSQL
    • Eclipse, Git, Maven, Jenkins
  • Good understanding of application layer protocols for the purpose of troubleshooting (HTTPS, DNS, SMTP, etc)
  • Experience working with scripting languages such as BASH, Ruby, Python, PHP, Perl.
  • Demonstrated ability supporting, maintaining, and administering enterprise applications.
  • Ability to execute logical and complex troubleshooting methods.
  • Experience using Jira and other ticketing systems to manage client incidents and general workflow.
  • Strong proficiency with source control (e.g., Git/Stash) and a disciplined approach to its use as a central repository to manage work and track changes.
Experience in the following would be an asset:
  • Ellucian Banner ERP (familiarity with C, Cobol)
  • SQL Query optimization
  • Continuous integration/continuous deployment, GitOps, etc.
  • Windows Server, Tomcat
  • SOAP, REST
  • Testing and QA methodologies
  • JavaScript, ReactJS
  • HTML, CSS

Salary Range Salary Range: $69,865-$92,712Additional Salary InformationSalary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment.
