Job Description

DescriptionJob Summary:Responsible for performing welding and grinding functions per job specifications. Selects equipment and plans layout and assembly of welding. Works closely and interacts with supervision. Works with precise limits and standards of accuracy. Able to weld in all positions - horizontal, vertical, flat, and overhead.Please note this will be used to fill several positions at the Shellburn project in Burnaby, BC, Canada starting January 29, 2024. These are tank maintenance and repair projects therefore, all welders (Journeypersonsamp; Apprentices) will be asked to perform tasks that may not be welding specific all the time.- The schedule is 5 days on, 2 days off, 10-hour days.- Living out Allowance (LOA) is provided - you are required to find your own accommodations.- You are responsible for getting to site and home on your own; travel allowance is provided at the start of job and at the end.- Start date is January 29, 2024, and will go for about 2 months.- Must be able to pass a weld test and D amp;A screen (conditions of employment).Essential Functions:- Actively supports the Company #39;s commitment to safety and itsquot;Core Values.- Represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company #39;squot;Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.- Receives and understands instructions and prints regarding work assignment in field.- Performs work requiring knowledge of the welding properties of various types of metals, welding rods, welding heat, stress relief, allowances for fit-up and machining, and the effect of shrinkage, warpage, and expansion.- Interprets drawings and sketches; plans details of working procedure; and decides on tools and materials needed.- Sets up, assembles, cleans, and prepares items to be welded.- Performs welding in all positions. Makes any type and size of weld.- Fitting flat, bottom steel sheets for proper welding application- Uses burning equipment to dismantle assemblies and to cut materials to size and shape.- Cleans and chips or grinds parts and welds.- Weld tacking horizontal and vertical seams.- Cleans up material and debris after completing each job.- Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.- Loading and offloading field equipment and material shipments from trucks- Perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervision.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- Must be able to pass weld test at shop in Leduc - 2G, 3G, 4G in both SMAWamp; FCAW processes.- Must maintain a 95-100% pass rate on weld X-ray/visual exams.- Must be able to read prints and written instructions as well as follow verbal directions required to perform duties and responsibilities.- Follow welding procedure specifications when welding.- Tank maintenance and repair experience an asset.- Ability to communicate and relay information with Foreman and co-workers effectively, safely, and respectfully.- Ability to lift objects weighing a maximum of 50 pounds.- Must have a positive outlook; willing to work as a team and independently.- Must possess hard work ethic and willingness to learn new things.- Exposure to extreme cold, heat, poor ventilation, fumes, and gases is possible; noise level is high and includes sounds of normal construction equipment.Training Required:- OSSA Regional Orientation OR Common Safety Orientation- CSTS-09 OR CSTS-20- Fall Protection- Confined Space- AWP- Fit Tests - North 7700EEO/M/F/Disability/Vets EmployerWe are an Equal Opportunity employer.
