Job Description

Job DescriptionThe Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating all preventative and corrective maintenance activities to ensure optimal reliability and efficiency. This role is highly site-focused, requiring constant presence on the plant floor to directly interact with tradespeople and their leaders. The Maintenance Planner gathers firsthand information, builds strong working relationships, and uses these insights to drive effective planning, scheduling, and reporting.Main Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain a strong, visible presence on the plant floor to observe equipment and maintenance activities firsthand.
  2. Regularly engage with tradespeople to gather accurate, real-time information on equipment status and maintenance needs.
  3. Build and sustain positive relationships with all trades and department leaders to facilitate open communication.
  4. Personally investigate and verify maintenance issues through direct observation and discussion.
  5. Use firsthand findings to create detailed and accurate work orders.
  6. Develop comprehensive maintenance schedules based on direct site assessments.
  7. Plan and schedule preventative maintenance activities to minimize equipment downtime.
  8. Plan and schedule corrective maintenance activities to address urgent issues promptly.
  9. Balance internal labor demands between reactive and planned maintenance tasks.
  10. Prioritize maintenance work based on operational needs and equipment criticality.
  11. Administer and optimize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  12. Ensure all maintenance data entered into the CMMS is accurate and up to date.
  13. Provide training and support to CMMS users as required.
  14. Maintain and update equipment lists, ensuring all assets are accurately recorded.
  15. Add new equipment and preventive maintenance tasks to the system based on manufacturer recommendations.
  16. Generate and deliver detailed maintenance and performance reports using spreadsheets and data analysis tools.
  17. Analyze maintenance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  18. Lead and participate in maintenance planning meetings with Operations and Maintenance teams.
  19. Monitor and schedule backlogged work orders, ensuring timely resolution.
  20. Track the status of all open work orders and follow up as needed.
  21. Conduct root cause analysis for equipment failures and recurring issues.
  22. Perform Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to improve equipment reliability.
  23. Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement in maintenance operations.
  24. Identify and implement cost reduction strategies in maintenance activities.
  25. Assist in the planning and administrative closure of completed work activities.
  26. Coordinate with external vendors and suppliers for parts and services as needed.
  27. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts usage, and equipment history.
  28. Oversee spare parts inventory to ensure critical parts are available when needed.
  29. Adapt to shifting priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
