Job Description

The Hotel Arts Group is currently seeking a Supervisor Server for our outlets, Yellow Door Bistroamp; Freestyle Social Club.We need dynamic hospitality professionals looking to further explore their passion for food and beverage. Bring your skillful service to our team!PurposeTo establish a relationship with the guests of The Yellow Door Bistro and Freestyle Social Club based on a genuine caring attitude and endowing them with artful service.As a result, the guests will enjoy a memorable experience that will cause them to anticipate their return.AccountabilityIs accountable to the Outlets Management Team for the execution of the duties and responsibilities framed in this position description and according to the intention framed in the performance expectations and measures.This position requires a mixture of daytime and evening availability.Job Requirements:

  • Valid ProServe Certificate
  • 3+ years of previous food service, bartending or restaurant experience required
  • Previous supervisory experience an asset
  • Must have a positive attitude
  • Must possess excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Must be able to multi-task and handle competing priorities and a fast-paced environment
  • Requires standing/walking throughout the shift
  • Lifting trays of up to 20 lbs., reaching and bending
  • Flexible schedule required
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIESTrain restaurant staff. This task set includes:
  • Work with the Outlets Managers to Develop and implement training programs for all staff of the Yellow Door Bistro
  • Provide training in product knowledge
  • Promote staff development for specialized training programs for staff off site
  • Prepare training packages and schedules for all new hires
  • Coordinate the execution of the Yellow Door Bistros’ onboarding program for all new front of house staff with the general manager
  • Provide on the job coaching to staff to correct service deficiencies.
Supervise restaurant staff. This task set includes:
  • Hold staff accountable for Hotel Art’s policies, practices and procedures
  • Hold staff accountable for Outlets steps of service and policies
  • Ensure that service standards framed in training programs are being met
  • Ensure that a proper open and close is done at the beginning/end of each shift.
Liaise with other departments that interact with the restaurant. This task set includes:
  • Communicate restaurant goals and directions with other departments
  • Resolve emergent issues with other departments.
Server Responsibilities
  • Determine the type of service connection required by each guest (e.g., whether they wish to chat or require privacy).
  • Provide attentive and prompt service to guests according to the sequence of service and service standards framed in Hotel Art’s Baseline Service Expectations, the intent of the principles of Artful Service and the restaurants’ standard operating procedures (SOP’s).
  • Deliver food and beverage in a timely fashion.
  • Inform tables of any possible delays or out of stock items (86ed items).
  • Possess a sound knowledge of the food and beverages being served in the Outlets.
  • Collect all the revenue for the food and beverages sold during the shift and accurately complete the appropriate cashout.
  • Bus/clean and reset tables according to standards
  • Complete all opening, closing and side duties required as framed in steps of service.
  • Provide responsible service of alcohol to guests as mandated by AGLC regulations.
  • Assign sections during supervisory shifts
  • Ensure pass on is completed and sent for all closing supervisory shifts
  • Communicate problems or issues that guests have regarding product, service or the facility to the Outlets Manager.
  • Assist other service team members.
  • Perform other assigned comparable or transient duties that are within the domain of knowledge and skills required by the position description.
