Job Description

With the largest fleet of specialty trailers in the world, the company is uniquely positioned to meet the growing demand for low and zero-emission fuel distribution.Summary:Certarus is creating an innovative technology platform to drive business efficiencies, build technology products, and to accommodate the Company’s rapid growth trajectory.Having established a core foundation of leading technologies (AI, IIoT, Edge Computing) as well as a Big Data platform that collects over 5 billion data records per day, Certarus is looking to leverage its data to strengthen its competitive advantage.The Data Specialist will be responsible for developing and managing advanced data infrastructure that supports the company #39;s essential applications and analytics. You will work alongside a diverse technology team, including a solution architect, business intelligence analysts, software developers, and business users, to ensure smooth and efficient data operations.Schedule:

  • Normal working hours are expected for this role, little to no travel is expected.
  • We support a hybrid work environment consisting of in-person collaboration at our Calgary office (3 days per week) and flexible work from home.
Dutiesamp; Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement complex enterprise data projects on the Azure platform.
  • Curate large amounts of raw data from Operational, Transactional and SCADA systems for Lakehouse, Warehouse, Customer Data Share, App Integrations and Analytics workloads.
  • Develop and maintain complex and scalable data ETL/ELT pipelines to meet the needs of Certarus’ software applications, API integrations and analytics.
  • Provide guidance from a Data Engineering perspective during architecture planning and technology selection processes and roadmaps for data management and data governance.
  • Combine various data types from multiple sources into a data Lakehouse/Warehouse.
  • Develop data models to support predictive and prescriptive analytics initiatives.
  • To drive business outcomes, perform data analysis and statistical trending on big data.
  • Ensure the reliability and scalability of Certarus’ data infrastructure, working with cloud service providers and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and Github to ensure seamless and efficient deployment of our data solutions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years #39; experience as a Data Engineer, Data Specialist, or similar technical role.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure solutions including Delta/Data Lakes, Databricks, Synapse, Data Factory, IoT Hub, Functions, Apache Spark, LogicApps, Notebooks, and PowerShell.
  • Technical expertise building and maintaining complex data pipelines in Azure Databricks, Azure Data factory and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Experience designing and building databases (SQL, NoSQL, Vector, PostgreSQL).
  • Strong Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. Python, Scala, SQL, JavaScript, C#).
  • Experience building distributed systems meant to process batch and streaming data.
  • Experience with R, AI/ML methodologies an asset.
  • Experience with messaging-oriented architectures, (e.g. MQTT), and APIs an asset
  • Post-secondary degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience an asset. Data Engineering certifications are an asset.
  • Self-motivated individual accustomed to working in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
