Job Description

Certarus is the North American leader in providing low carbon energy solutions through a fully integrated compressed natural gas (CNG), renewable natural gas (RNG), and hydrogen platform. With the largest fleet of specialty trailers in the world, the company is positioned to meet the growing demand for low and zero-emission fuel distribution.Summary:The Procurement Lead is the subject matter expert, responsible for supplier management, purchasing, inventory management and capital spend tracking for all Certarus operations throughout the US and Canada. The successful candidate will interact with Engineering, Accounting, Logistics, Operations, Legal and Tax to fulfill procurement and supply needs, and reports to the Inventory and Procurement Supervisor.Schedule:

  • This position holds normal working hours can be based out of our Calgary, AB. or Houston, TX. corporate offices.
  • We support a hybrid work environment consisting of in-person collaboration at our Calgary or Houston office (3 days per week) and flexible work from home.
  • Occasional travel to shop and field locations in both Canada and the USA will be required on an as-needed basis (10-15%).
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Source, negotiate, award and document purchases for materials, services, and supplies, including strategic pursuits.
  • Monitor inventory program and work with regional managers on identifying key suppliers and appropriate inventory stock levels.
  • Negotiate contract terms and conditions and provide support for contract risk, collaborate with Legal, Tax and other Subject Matter Experts, as necessary, on negotiated terms.
  • Ensure that requirements (prime contract, quality, terms, and conditions) are properly communicated to suppliers.
  • Manage supplier relationships and performance to cost, schedule and quality requirements.
  • Assist in the development of customer bids and agreements.
  • Work closely with finance and engineering departments on capital budgeting, capital allocation and tracking capital spending.
  • Work closely with customs compliance on international shipment of materials to ensure accuracy and consistency from purchase order through to payment.
  • Execute to internal and external customer requirements including government regulations, public law and Certarus policies and procedures.
  • Interact with various internal customers, contractors, attorneys, system support representatives in team settings to monitor the progress of work, resolve problems and ensure performance standards are met.
  • Identify contract issues to be escalated and coordinate/facilitate the management of the resolution to these issues.
  • Utilize company systems to interpret and leverage data to support activities.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education or training in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or combination of education and related work experience.
  • Minimum five years proven experience working as a procurement specialist, ideally in oil and gas, compression, manufacturing, maintenance, or heavy equipment supply.
  • Understanding of business drivers and ability to develop work and execution plans to meet objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating new contracts, renewing existing contracts and negotiating contracts with new and existing suppliers.
  • Ability to plan, delegate and evaluate progress toward goals for multiple ongoing projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and organizational capabilities; detail oriented; capable of working in an autonomous environment; as well as in collaborative groups.
  • Commitment to strong HSE and Trade Control Compliance culture.
  • Experience with import/export regulations an advantage, as well as across both the US and Canada an advantage.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Supply Chain Management designations such as SCPM PMAC, APICS, or equivalent, or working towards is considered an asset.
  • Able to travel to meet vendors and suppliers as necessary.
