OPPORTUNITIES:This position offers the following:Industry leading wage package plus RRSP contribution matching, a comprehensive group benefit plan and paid time offAn opportunity to work in a large modern, clean, conditioned and secure enterprise grade Data Centre FacilitySteady year-round hours equivalent to 40 hours/week regardless of season, with opportunities for limited amounts of overtimeOpportunity to become part of a small team working and learning on technologically advanced equipment unique to the Data Centre industryOpportunity for vertical growth by demonstrating high level of attention to detail and a curiosity/desire to learnOn the job, OEM and 3rd party trainingNo On-Call scheduleTuition reimbursementNo travel requiredRESPONSIBILITIES:As a member of the operations team, under the supervision of the Critical Facilities Manager, the duties and responsibilities of the Data Centre HVAC Mechanic include, but are not limited to, the following:Work closely with lead HVAC mechanic to gain knowledge and skills as requiredCoordinate, conduct or assist with all preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance activities, including those activities performed by Ascent’s clients or vendor staffManage client and vendor staff in the maintenance of buildings and groundsPerform initial troubleshooting to mechanical and infrastructural systems, HVAC systems, plumbing systems, life safety systems, security systems, roofs, drains, shop equipment, emergency power systems, and systems furnitureRoutinely inspect buildings, space, grounds and/or equipment regularly for problematic or unsafe conditionsPerform and oversee general and preventative maintenance tasks including equipment checks, equipment performance monitoring, cleaning, lubrication and service of a wide variety of components/devicesCoordinate, conduct or assist with facility renovations, upgrades, and build-outs including overseeing vendorsManage and maintain site Building Management Systems, CCTV, Access Control SystemSupport overall site operation of the data center facilityOther duties as assignedWORKING CONDITIONSRequired to maintain high level of facility cleanliness and equipment reliability which will require attention to detail and high levels of accuracyWalking and/or standing for long periods of time will be requiredBending, stooping, and lifting equipment may be requiredMust have a valid 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems license (Red Seal Designation preferred)Must have a valid Gas Technician 2 Certificate (G1 preferred)Must have or be willing to obtain an Ozone Depletion Prevention CertificateSound working knowledge of CSA B149.1High regard for health and safetyMust be customer and team oriented, as well as self-motivated and able to work successfully with minimal supervisionMinimum 3 years HVACR work experience requiredHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredGood communication and organizational skills are requiredSelf-starter, with developed analytical and troubleshooting skillsMust have a valid drivers license and reliable transportationProficiency with basic operations of a computer including knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word and MS OutlookAll interested candidates should apply through the ad or visit www.ascent-corp.com and select the careers tab to apply for the position.
